Posted July 17, 200817 yr Remember this little guy? Well he's half way through his moult and starting to look vaguely normal again. His little foot and the injuries to his belly skin will never heal which is why his feathers look strange on his stomach. He has moulted from the head down so his bottom half is still brown and his top half is white
July 17, 200817 yr He is so scruffy but it makes him so adorable, I know I shouldn't say that but he is a doll.
July 17, 200817 yr I do remember asking but i forgot the answer. What happened to him again what made him go brown?
July 17, 200817 yr Author Yeah, I love him cause he's scruffy He is stuntd because of his history unfortunatey but he actually comes out of a show type clutch and he is a gorgeous colour so I'm hoping he will manage to breed for me in the future. He might struggle with his bad foot but we'll see He was attacked by a hen in the nest and his breeder used antiseptic cream on him which caked his feathers Edited July 17, 200817 yr by melbournebudgies
July 17, 200817 yr Thanks MB - Face Looks pretty - but sorry to say the other half still looks like the Ugly brown bird LOL .... He is going to be a STUNNER when he molts out those feathers
July 17, 200817 yr Author He's still a skinny little guy. I suspect he will always be a bit runty I'm hoping that once he has finished this big moult he might be able to devote a bit more of his energy stores to growing outwards
July 17, 200817 yr Author Ya think? I thought it was a hen originally but being a pied I'm hopeless at sexing them
July 18, 200817 yr See how his brown colour covers his body completely, you could use that to develop your black birds.
July 18, 200817 yr I agree SW. And i really like the brown colours. imagine what s/he would look like if it was not attacked If your bird ends up being a boy (but looks like a hen to me too), you could use artificial insemination to get some offspring from him/her - I am researching it at the moment as i am considering it for BG - Food for though
July 18, 200817 yr Really? It's so even coloured. He looks like someone dropped him in a cup of coffee
July 18, 200817 yr Author He was stained as a baby from a medication put on his injuries and it is only now moulting out.
July 18, 200817 yr He was stained as a baby from a medication put on his injuries and it is only now moulting out. What a shame - I was thinking you could try and get a full cinnamon budgie
