Posted July 17, 200816 yr For those of you here in Oz, you know that Foxtel IQ ad, where the guys show their appreciation of the wonders of modern TV technology by whistling? Yeah, well that ad came on last night and lo and behold, from the corner of the living room came the Foxtel IQ whistle! Argh! Smokey's caught it! We've just got him saying "hello", and now he's picking up stuff off the TV... so young and impressionable! If TV has that kind of influence over budgies, imagine what it's doing to our kids!
July 17, 200816 yr Woooooooo * attemped to wistle like the Add ... Mac goes crazy when the Vac is on He chats like my Nanna does ( NON STOP )
July 17, 200816 yr I have one Budgie who will sing part of the Buffy theme tune if he feels like it! Nope I did not watch Buffy alot when he was young I swear!
July 17, 200816 yr I have been trying to work out why I could hear budgies down near my laundry. Then I realised it is the lorikeets in the bathroom on quarantine who have picked up budgie and are chatting the the budgies at the other end of the house

July 17, 200816 yr The foxtel ad Thanks Kaz. I hadn't seen it before - I can get a wolf whistle out of one of my tiels, but other than that all my birds make their normal sounds.... I am surprised some haven't picked up phrases like "muuuuummmm I'm hungry" or "muuuuuuummmm, abby hit me" or "muuuuuummmm, I'm board" etc etc etc :hap:
July 18, 200816 yr My friends tiel goes mum... mum... muuuuuuummmm... muuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmm... MUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMM.... mum mum mum mum mum mum mum mum mum.... oh will you shut up! its' really funny to listen to and watch the poor kids and mother go bright red in the face!

July 18, 200816 yr I love that ad. It's right up there with the RACQ ads. My cockatiel Xandra is 2 1/2 years old and everytime I got up there I whistle to my birds and she started doing it about 1 year ago. She hasn't quite learned to talk yet just mimicking but it amazes me what sounds she picks up.

MUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMM.... mum mum mum mum mum mum mum mum mum.... oh will you shut up! its' really funny to listen to and watch the poor kids and mother go bright red in the face! Charley has always LOVED the word "tummy" (started with "scratch my tummy") .. now also loves "mummy", resulting in a repertoire of "tummy tummy tummy... mummy's tummy... its tummy mummy time.. scratch mummy's tummy ... Charley's mummy's tummy!!.. etc etc"... Its funny how they seem to get a favourite sound isnt it?? Guess I should teach him yummy ....(but not bummy!!).... :hap:
July 20, 200816 yr My rainbow lorikeet goes nuts when the vacumn turns on! Like its a competition or something to see whos the loudest!
