July 12, 200816 yr Author looking good, when I get started on a project I love to just do and get it done, you are probably so excited to get those birds in there too, I know I would be . I think my sister is nore excited about that then I am there are making one *** of a racket! Even more so now the avairy guys have moved into the back patio
July 14, 200816 yr WOWWEE! Looks great, Some advice on the cages though - Lift them up off the ground
July 14, 200816 yr Author WOWWEE! Looks great, Some advice on the cages though - Lift them up off the ground The bottom few do not have birds in them only the top two on each row. The rest are in storage now or are being used by the other guys, only put them there for the shot. I will most likely never use the bottom row as I feel it is to low to the ground and the top row would only be holding and not used for breeding as I would need a ladder to view the boxes (yes I am short!)
July 14, 200816 yr Wow that looks fantastic, good work I find it so hard to get motivated in this cold weather
July 14, 200816 yr Author Yes it is tam but when you are budgie explosion point there is a whole new set of motivation
July 18, 200816 yr Author Well it's painted, not very well but it is painted! opened the second tin of paint to find out that it is a different colour :hap: so the roof is a nice shade of off white or as I call it, white mixed with dirt and budgie poo colour! Tomrrow we will attach the mesh and then hopefully the lino will go down which means that I can move guys in there next weekend.... or maybe early in two weeks time as next weekend i am going away.
July 18, 200816 yr WOOO HOOOO I am sooo looking forward to the Final out come :hap: I bet you are too
July 18, 200816 yr Author I just look at the rolls of wire and think I have to put them up tomorrow! then give it a good vacum and move everything out so the lino can go down then move everything in wait a few days to let it air and then we have the great Budgie move of 2008! I have completly re thought the layout after looking at the space today. i think i am infact going to back the cages on to each other in a bank in the middle of the room, this will i think give them more light and also place them directly under the overhead light which I think will be a good thing. I just seem to have birds and cages everywhere. I really need to clean the cages outside so I can reset quarantine for 3 of my guys and split the two girls up so I know who is still sick and who is better based on poo and then we can work it out. I am so tired I just want to go to sleep and all this help that my family promised me equaled about 10 mins!
July 18, 200816 yr hardwork pays off before you know it you it will be a year later , can't wait to see the finished result.
July 31, 200816 yr Author Lino finally went down today..... Only one issue was happy pottering around when all of a sudden I smell something really strange I go out to the back yard and follow the smell to the breeding room... the guys told me that they where not going to use glue but the tape, well the tape did not work so they started using glue the stuff gave me a headache I hate to think what it was doing the the Budgies to I screamed the the guys to stop, closed all the doors and caught all my guys from the avairy and moved them to holding cages and put them around the other side of the house. I shut up the house and move the quarantine guys to the laundry and aired out (with a fan the front rooms before shutting them up so that the fumes would not get through. Either way it's now done, 24 hours before I can walk on it, a few days to move everything in and then on Sunday i will have a functional working breeding room! Will post pictures later tonight or tomorrow better get back to work now.
July 31, 200816 yr Author It is done Then I set it up like this But then didn't like it so set it up like this And set this area up Now have to wait a few days and move the birds in. Also have a small bar fridge to be moved in and the feed bins and the quarantine cage because I am going to put all the Quaratine guys int here for the next few weeks to get them out of the house and then do a complete clean put everyone in the avairy for a week or two and then at the start of september put my first pairs down. I am done
July 31, 200816 yr Awsome! It looks great and I too like the second layout better . It's a pity the workers didn't tell you they were going to use glue BEFORE they did it .

July 31, 200816 yr Author really only about 12 I don't like using the bottom level or the top level if I have to I might start but if I don't then I will just use the middle sections.
August 1, 200816 yr Do you have anything in the flights area that can be opened up for ventilation....like a window that has mesh on it or something like that. Because with indoor flights and birdrooms cross ventilation is super important. Doesnt the painted walls make everything look bright and so much bigger ?

Because with indoor flights and birdrooms cross ventilation is super important.Doesnt the painted walls make everything look bright and so much bigger ? Flights? I don't have flights yet I jimmy the garage door open and the back door is open during the day except for the mesh/screen door then at night I shut everything up so it should be fine. When I convince my parents that i need flights then I will get the front garage door changed to windows and a door.
August 3, 200816 yr Author okay well I moved some in. About a week ago I split the hens that I was going to put down to nest out form the cocks and granted it might not be enough time to ensure that the chicks are the cocks but they are pet types and I paired them as they have been pairing up in the avairy so a little bit of lukcy dip but we will see how we go.
