July 2, 200817 yr I'm looking for the list that basically tells you what section you should be showing your budgie in when you get to the show, the one where you work from the bottom to the top... July 2, 200817 yr Author Eventually Neat, just want to be able to check if I breed a chick with more than one mutation what section they will be shown in so I can decide whether to keep it.
July 3, 200817 yr You need to join a club first & they will help you with all you need to know & they have to have rings on .
July 3, 200817 yr Author I am a member of a club but I didn't get a copy of it when I was at the last meeting so I wanted one for my personal use while deciding which birds to breed.
July 3, 200817 yr Author We need to get some rings in the pipeline so that we can start putting them on babies, did she say how long the rings take?
July 3, 200817 yr A few weeks (can be up to 6 depending on the demand) but as it is not spring or the start of the year I am hoping it will be quick
July 3, 200817 yr Author Are you goint to put them on you pet types this year as well since we probably won't have many show types just to use up the rings?
July 3, 200817 yr Author Club rings, we have to buy 50 though and we won't use them all this year on our show types so we'll robably use up the others on the pet types.
July 3, 200817 yr I will ring Harley's Chicks and those out of Lemon and Lime, maybe out of Blue but that is about it for this year. If I get any out of Brandon and Ashley then I will ring them as well.
July 3, 200817 yr I ring them all these days. For such little cost for rings, it also means a legrung chick is more easily sold then one not rung. People then know the ages and the breeding can be tracked back through your records. Petshops and bird dealers pay a few dollars more for a legrung chick.
July 3, 200817 yr Author How much were the uncoded rings or whatever they were called? From recollection they had a lower minimum buy, so I might just get whatever the minimumof those was to put on my pet chicks Also if the bird gets lost and someone who finds it has a little common sense they can track down the breeder. If the breeder knows who they sold it to then it may get back to it's owner Edited July 3, 200817 yr by melbournebudgies
July 3, 200817 yr Club rings, we have to buy 50 though and we won't use them all this year on our show types so we'll robably use up the others on the pet types. You should only buy what you think you will use this year. The rings are coded by year and also colour coded by year so they're not much use next year.
July 4, 200817 yr The minimum purchase is 50, we have no choice Oh that's too bad. My club in QLD has a min buy of 20 increasing in lots of 10 thereafter. I guess they have the 50 min to cut down from people ordering many small amounts and thereby lessen their workload. But that doesn't help us who don't need 50 rings.
July 4, 200817 yr Author Minimum is 50 club rings or 20 of the non-personalised rings (which are a little cheaper), n the future we may keep the club ones just fo our show birds and use the others for pet types but we might as well use them up this year.
