Really inspect that cage that the dead lorries were in. Look out for any white rust or something that could hav fallen on the cage. Do a bit of CSI around the cage.

It could be bacterial, so if you reuse that cage, disinfect it well and leave it out in the hot sun to dry, making sure no wild birds contact it

wouldn't a necropsy help you figure out what caused this? I know you said it would be too late to save them but it wouldn't be too late to find out what caused it instead of guessing? :hap:

The vet believes it is a bacterial infection and has tested one of my other birds. The birds are on antibiotics and are looking substantially better already. I used to work as a vet nurse in a clinic that treated many small animals and birds so I know many of the early signs and got onto the survivors pretty quick with some meds. All the cages have been disinfected and they will actually be getting brand new cages next week which were set up for breeding so once they are completely healthy they will go straight into their new cages.

Sorry MB, Only read a few posts but thought I might add my 2cents worth,

Could it be the fact that you have changed their food ( like you mentioned in a earlier thread)

I was under the impression that there wasn't alot of research done with the different food type for the

Lori ... Anyways mate, sorry to hear of your losses

I hope the remaining bounce back, do you have pics of your lorries they are such beautiful birds.

My bay Tingles is in my sig. I don't have any photos o the others as theyare aviary birds and they are a bit freaked out about being inside at the moment so I'm trying to only fiddle with them when I have to.
