Posted June 12, 200817 yr I have not had the budgies inside since around the start of the year so it's strange sitting here in my study with birds right there One thing I forgot was how Harley sleeps, he tried to get side on to the bars, tucks his head back and pushes his chest against the bars, does that make sense? it looks really weird. Mozzie on the other hand leans her head down and looks like she is going to fall off the perch I forgot how fun they can be just to watch I have been sitting here staring at them for a while and just loving having them back inside. Also I can't believe the difference it has made to Harley he is really liking it and there is a heat vent/duc that is half closed that is under the frame for the cages so they are in one of the warmest parts of the room (still one of the coldest parts of the house) and he has been preening all day, he has been singing and flapping around. I let him out in the study while I set up the stand and the space for the cage and he was flapping around and sitting on my head and singing and then fell asleep on my keyboard!
June 12, 200817 yr I love sleeping budgies . In my signature there is a picture of Latte taking an afternoon nap (our server is still down so the picture cant be seen for the time being - it had better be back soon ) Edited June 12, 200817 yr by **Liv**
June 12, 200817 yr Last night I caught Smokey asleep all squashed up on the top part of his swing between the roof of his cage and the top of his swing! It looked so awkward, and when I went near his cage to get a closer look he woke up and looked at me as though I had seriously disturbed his beauty sleep! Casper used to do the same thing... really weird!!
June 13, 200817 yr Author I know I look at Harley some times and can't work out how he got into the position! Sometimes I am worried that he is stuck but it's not to be!
June 13, 200817 yr I only have outside birds ( but as I am babysitting ) the 2 usually sleep on the highest perch they can find either that or the side of the cage ....
June 13, 200817 yr In the aviary, mine all hang on the wire at the front to sleep - they fight over who gets the highest spot. To me this would be the coldest, windiest and most uncomfortable spot in the aviary, so i don't get why they do it

It looks really strange as the hand on with their beaks as well as their feet? You think it would be warmer to snuggle up on the covered in part on the perches.

Mine even do it when it's blowing a gale and raining. Why oh why??? They have cosy spots sheltered from the elements, but no, hanging on to the wire with beak and feet.
June 13, 200817 yr Author Huh that must be why... In some of Ivans big aviarys he has got aviary wire in the sheltered corners could not work out why but there are always budgies hanging onto it so maybe that is why he put it there will have to ask him. Edited June 13, 200817 yr by Angelic Vampyre
