June 17, 200816 yr Author Well I'm happy to report the hen is 99% better :hap: The cock is taking slower to recover as I suspect he's alot older than her, he also has ALOT of feather loss and bald spots, which is another indicator of his age ! Here are some pictures to compare with the before and after - Cock close up. His beak is looking so much better and his wounds from the scaly mite burrows coming off are healing :hap: - and again - His feet look alot better also although there's still some minor mites left. He also had scaly mites on his wings (where the feather quill enters the skin) Although after a treatment that has healed also - Hens beak. looking MUCH better and has almost finished the re-shaping, no more drop down bits or over grown bottom mandible. - again - And her feet, looking sooo good! although she lost ALOT of toe nails which were only connected by the mite burrows to her toes. She now has one toe nail per foot
June 17, 200816 yr Wow Libby, all things considered they look great! Can we have a photo of them sitting in their cage happily
June 17, 200816 yr Author Well it's not one of them in their cage per say But it's them sitting out on the birdy inside perch Their cage is nothing special anyway, just a small quarintine/hospital cage :hap: Tomorrow they're going into the big world, a patio aviary we have with nothing in it at the moment You can see how much brighter they're although still a big hit and miss for the cock.

At least the cock is looking like a budgie now! They must be feeling a whole lot better now.

June 18, 200816 yr Author To trim their beaks jenene I use... human nail clippers and a nail file!!! hahah Best thing i've found for the job
September 5, 200816 yr Author UPDATES!!!! :D Well it's been quite a while so I thought it was about time for some updayes on these two. The cock is sooo gorgeous now!!! He'd be much younger than I originally thought when he was ill. They've both put on weight and are normal sized birds now, the hen even has a partner and the cock flirts all day with branches:P - Doing his "I'm so sexy pose" I have a photo of the hen, but photobucket won't let me upload it or work for me at all, so i'll have to post her at a later stage
