Posted May 22, 200817 yr Hello everyone! I just registered today, found a link from the Swedish budgie forum conversation. And as I'm addicted to budgie forums I had to register rigt away. I think budgie people are most wonderful! I'm 26, still a student and I live with my husband and 5 budgies and 3 dogs. Below is a photo of my budgies, from left to right my eldest one Viva 12 years old cobolt opaline hen. Then Veera 6 months also opaline olive green hen. The following two, Cielo (opaline sky blue hen) and Nieve (sky blue recessive pied cock) are English ones, as we call them here. We don't have shows in Finland, and those are not quite that quality either - they're small, so I don't call them show budgies... The second last is Nokinenä: a mauve yellow face mut II cock, but him I don't have anymore. And finally Loisto, my little favourite: an olive green australian pied cinnamon opaline. Not sure about his sex either, he/she's only 5 months. Though I keep hoping he's a boy, as we're lacking some, but I guess cinnamon opaline says a lot already... I had my first budgies when I was 14, other one of them was the before mentioned Viva. Now after many years of neglecting her (she's been living with my parents, not neglected ) I took her under my wings again and got her new friends too and now I can't stop talking about my birds! My plans are to breed some, too and try and find some more english budgies. They're quite rare here. I already like you forum a lot, been here and there reading the conversations, and it seems really thorough. Thank you for the wonderful maintenance and keep it up! Edited May 22, 200817 yr by falki
May 22, 200817 yr Author Thank you! I guess I shouldn't be waiting for too many replies yet, when the time zone is quite something else there! I just edited the photo a bit smaller as I noticed that in some threads pictures had been turned into links because they were bigger than 450x450? And in the terms and conditions ect. it says the max size 640x480? Now which one is correct? I'm confused, I don't want to make it harder for the moderators either!

The right photo size limit now is 640x480
May 22, 200817 yr Beautiful picture, you should enter the June Budgie of the Month Competition , the forum is very quiet during my U.S. day and very lively when I sleep LOL because I am in the minorty also but that is okay because I get to wake up to some very interesting posts and pictures.
May 22, 200817 yr Welcome Falki, I hope you enjoy it here. From that picture Loisto, looks a bit like a hen, but the picture is very small so a picture close up would help us.
May 23, 200817 yr Hi and welcome Lovely birds by the way!!! Look forward to keeping you around, it's nice to to have "out of town" members
May 23, 200817 yr Hello and welcome. I love your picture. They all look so sweet lined up like that Viva looks brilliant for her age!
May 23, 200817 yr Author I thought you might be eager to solve out Loisto's sex. I know that all the outer factors indicate that it's female, like the coloring and the cere, but then there's the behaviour, trying to feed the others, sing nicely (though he really can't..) and even hop on the back of Nieve and he gets real pissed off... But here's an updated picture. The cere is something between light brown and pink. I think the pics quite truthful too... And I know, you say it's a hen... So, I just have to get some more cocks. I don't mind, actually!
May 23, 200817 yr She's definatly a hen She looks like she could be spangle opaline cinnwing pied by a few of those feathers :S???
May 23, 200817 yr Hi Falki, You have lovely birds. You could start a budgie club if you were interested in doing that. They only get started by people who are interested in them. http://www.world-budgerigar.org/ On this website you will find information about world standards for show breeders. You might be able to get stock from some of your neighbouring countries that have established exhibition studs if you were interested. Cheers, DrNat.
May 23, 200817 yr Hello Falki, Really pretty birds... I also really like the branch you have them on. Is it a feature in your house? I think it lookd great. I'd love to see more pics..
May 24, 200817 yr Author She looks like she could be spangle opaline cinnwing pied by a few of those feathers :S??? I don't know about spangle... But below you can see the wing feathers a little better. You could start a budgie club if you were interested in doing that. I think I have to get to know these little birds a bit better and then maybe, when we have more than 10 show/ english budgies here in our contry I might consider the next step They are really rare nowadays. But thank you for the idea, I might just do that later on! I also really like the branch you have them on. Is it a feature in your house? It's for the birds only. There's not a lot of features in this house of ours But the birds love it, and have nibbled off all the bark. I should replace it to give them more job... Here a couple of more pics:
May 24, 200817 yr Yep she is spangled also. In the first of the two pics you can see it clearly Very nice photo's.
