Posted May 8, 200817 yr now if i read kaz's post in FAQ section about how to sex a budgie right, the budgie i fell in love with today is a male so here's AZUL he was freaked out when my friend took him out of the cage and flew all over the place Edited May 9, 200817 yr by Keisha
May 8, 200817 yr s/he looks lovely.... So exciting!!! Your baby is nearly ready Your friend needs to handle the babies as much as she can.... Just because they are babies dosen't mean that will be instantly tame. Most breeders handle chicks a number of times a day to make sure they are healthy and developing well, this makes the chicks a lot quieter and tame a lot easier than a chick that has not been handled regularly. If Azul has not been handled, s/he will be basically wild and frightened of people. You will be able to tame Azul, it will just take longer and you will have to work harder When do you get to pick Azul up??? Edited May 8, 200817 yr by **Liv**
May 8, 200817 yr i was looking at the FAQ's section on how to sex a chick. The cere in both sexes looks the same, but the nostrils in the male are closer than the females right? if so the 1st picture is a male Telling gender is all about the colour of the cere. It is quite tricky for the untrained eye. Even trained eyes can struggle on some chicks hehe... I know you really want a male budgie... we will do what we can to help you pick the right one. Females will have a whitish ring around the nostrils, where a male will have pinkish purple... Have a look at this link. it has good close up pictures of the male and female cere - the baby ones are at the bottom ----> HERE Edited May 8, 200817 yr by **Liv**
May 9, 200817 yr I can't tell in that picture if it is a he or she but a word of precaution NEVER let an untamed or fearful budgie out of their cage without them knowing where and how to fly because they can smack into walls and break or injury a wing or even break a neck, take this note into mind when you bring your new budgie home. An excellent point made was making sure that the babies are being handled at a very young age so they can be tamed very easily, has your friend been doing any of this?

An excellent point made was making sure that the babies are being handled at a very young age so they can be tamed very easily, has your friend been doing any of this? it was partly my fault cause i wanted to hold him as for my friends holding the chicks, i don't know since i don't live close to them. But if they aren't holding them, will he be too wild to tame him?
May 11, 200817 yr my friend who is gonna take me to get azul is karen's niece and she said that karen and dave are holding the babies, so by the time we go get them, they should be used to people holding them :hap: just a few more weeks and azul will be home :hap:
May 11, 200817 yr Thats great to hear that Azul will be handled. It will make your job of taming him a lot easier :hap: He is only young, so he will tame for you, it will just be a question of how much work it will take :hap:
