August 10, 201014 yr My hands are softer than my wife's. I've always been told I have hands the envy of every girl. Doesnt quite inflate your man ego and certainly doesnt stand up to budgie hen jaws of death but eh, i just let em bleed lol. I have quite a few healing wounds on my fingers right now actually from pairing and prepping some hens for breeding hahaha. Ooh tell ya what tho, one took a chunk out of the palm of my hand - she went into the muscle and flamin heck that hurt! Edited August 10, 201014 yr by Dean_NZ

November 8, 201014 yr Author It has been a long time since I updated this topic, but I will get some new pics soon At the moment we are having the mother of all thunderstorms here. It has been pouring on and off for the better part of 5 hours. There is flash flooding all over Sydney, including in the aviary. The floor has flooded, and it shows me what has to be fixed over a drier (hopefully) summer. The hail earlier would have been a new experience for the birds. Hail the diameter of 20 cent coins ricocheting off the roof of the aviary would have scared a few. Luckily the shadecloth on the structure of built and put on top of the aviary seems to have held up well. Meant to be a wet day tomorrow, so no chance of a repreieve there.
November 16, 201014 yr Author New pics have arrived - only a few, but it is a start Captain Jack - one eyed, think pirate, and Captain Jack Sparrow is my favourite Grunt - a greywing runt Quiche Caesar Twitch Grey Dommie Pied hen I love A nice opaline Greygreen hen

August 31, 201113 yr Author It has been a while since I took photos of birds in the aviary. On the "to do" list.
September 30, 201113 yr Author There will be a mini-clean out from my aviary. My nephews have finally got the slab fixed over at their house, so the aviary can go back on it, and birds can go back in. This means that some birds need to go over there. Some birds are certainties, whilst others I need to decided upon. The pet types will go, so Humphrey - show type x pet type green cock Bruce - pet type green cock Tam - Sky Blue Greywing Spangle pet type hen Yellow - Lutino Hen Marvin - greygreen spangle dommie pied cock - small show type Solo - light green spangle cock - only semi-decent chick from my last terrible breeding season - small show type Dolly - greygreen hen show type - big chested hen Athena - sky blue hen semi show type Hugo - DF violet Dommie Pied pet type and I need at least one more hen, if not 2 hens and i cock. I want an even number of cocks and hens. They are not going to breed, but they need to be able to fly, so no runners, and i do not want my best birds going there. Might be the DF Spangle that is currently in the breeding room. She seems to be doing nothing - lol. I will get pics of these and the other birds that remain as well. I will decide after that.
