Hiya

Finally we have had a chance to download a photo of our newest addition to our home - Its Benny

Finding it a little hard to bond with him, thinking of clipping his wings to see if this helps ??

But he has a beautiful little personality and cute whistle

Hi Kim and Benny. What a cutie. Clipping wings does help with taming but it's a personal choice. Spend lots of time with your head and hand close to the cage talking to him, then with your hand in the cage. You'll get there eventually. Some budgies can take longer then others to come around. Good luck and keep us updated.

Would you like to try and upload a larger picture...if you choose the website/ email size it will be fine for this forum or anything at 450 by 450.

Cheers Kaz

Hi

We have only had Benny for three weeks today

I have looked at the FAQ.s and that has helped alot

Each day we slowly put our hand in his cage to get used to us

We were thinking of only clipping his wings as a one off, so that he will learn to trust us

Still in some double edge sword about that.......as we dont want to stress him out too much either

But we love him just the same and in time it will tell..... we really want a lovely dovey budgie that loves

just hanging out with us, like our Lucy used too.......maybe not a good idea to compare, but we had such a wonderful experience

with Lucy, that we want it all over again (taking into consideration, Benny is completely a different personality already )

Same picture below, but a bit bigger

Benny is a girl budgie :)

We were not 100% sure actually, as most of the time "her" cere is a very light shade blue.

But thats okay, as Benny can be nickname for Benita..hahaha

Love her just the same.

Did the same with Lucy - her real name was Luke, but when she was egg bound, we found out pretty quick Luke was a Lucy

hahahaha......lol

Doesnt really matter to us, we just love having the atmosphere of a new family member at our place!!!Thanks for letting us know,

I thought that was why you may have wanted a bigger picture.!!!

Gorgeous bird :)

Since her wings are already clipped take off the last 2 primary flight feathers on each wing also. It will minimise chances of damage or breakage

Clipping wings is not stressful if done correctly it takes no more then a couple minutes if that it is snip snip that is how it was when the avian vet did Merlin's. They making all the squawking sounds worse then it is . I agree with Liv with her above statement on doing both sides, you never want to do just 1 it is very dangerous for birds because they can't fly evenly they go in a circle pattern and can crash. Continue with the taming tips in the FAQ it is patience and that week you want to give up could be the break through you were waiting for.
