May 2, 200817 yr He is moulting which is why he looks like he does. :dbb1: he is getting darker as he moults Just had a look at the full picture... YES A BOY!!! i was so busy looking at his colour that i didnt even notice his face. :budgiedance: He has moulted all his baby bars out and the feathers you see on his wings that are darker than the others are the new feathers that are coming though darker than the baby ones. May 2, 200817 yr Author .....What age do they get the iris rings?I have never had one of my YF2s turn from cinnamon to normal during a moult though?
May 2, 200817 yr .....What age do they get the iris rings?Iris rings ( light ) may be from 5 months on.........What age do they get the iris rings?I have never had one of my YF2s turn from cinnamon to normal during a moult though? What appears to be black markings often is really dark brown. One of my cinnamon dom pied boys looked like that on throat spots and top of wings but lower down the wings they were lighter brown. Same thing.
May 2, 200817 yr Not normal. still cinnamon, just darker brown which almost looks like black, but not :budgiedance: . I have had it happen to mine too. When you put him next to a normal, you will see that the colours are different :dbb1:
May 2, 200817 yr this is what Bing looks like right now because he is going through his first moult, bits of yellowy green appearing all over his body and the blue slowly disappearing
May 2, 200817 yr Looking like a nice bird you've got there... look forward to seeing what he turns out like after the moult.
May 2, 200817 yr Yes I would agree that he is going through a moult. Double factor yellow face type 2 budgies have a mottled green and blue belly. So if that stays mottled then that is what he is. However I think he is currently moulting.
May 2, 200817 yr Author I think he is cinnamon so when he is a bit older Ill put him with my other cinnamon YF hen.
May 2, 200817 yr Yes as we expected he is just going through his first moult, something like 4 to 5 months old. With Cinnamons you often get that contrast when the new feathers come through, because the juvenile feathers were pale, the new ones will fade a little & look more normal soon. So I think he is Yellow Face2 Cinnamon Violet. So you have plenty of choices of what colour he is. Yf Cinnamons are nice looking birds I think.
May 2, 200817 yr I will be interested to see him in a month when he is all cleaned up to see how his feathers come back in. , he is a pretty one for sure.
May 5, 200817 yr okay first off- i started skimming this thread so if it has been answered already sorry. You new one is a yellowface type 2. You will have to wait for the moult to finished to see of change in frather colour evens out or not. If not then a DF yellowface type 2 tends to get more a of a patchy look to the feathers than a single factor (who in the end looks almost like a normal green) Edited May 5, 200817 yr by Nerwen
