Sorry..but This Is The New Buddie Bird

I rang the pet shop and said that my YOUNG MALE was not a young male but and older female but she had poopy problems and was flipping out on the bottom of the cage. So they said to bring her straight down. I spoke to the girl who buys all their birdsand she said she probably had worms and put her in isolation to treat the problem. She offered us a replacement (that sounds bad) and the kids fell in love with this YOUNG MALE in the shop. He jumped straight out and within 10mins of the kids playing with him he was sitting on their shoulders singing and preening himself. So here HE is. What type is this bird and I guess he is only a few weeks old

So if he is a spangle whats their story? Where can I find more info on diff. types?

Steve

There are posts about different mutations on this board with pictures of members' birds withthose mutations. i can't remember the link though

I have seen a large poster of all the different types of Budgies, does anyone know where I can get one? Or is there a site that has all the different types and how to tell them apart?

Someone was asking about a poster recently but I'm not sure if we found a solution to that. Your little boy is a cinnamon grey green spangle for sure. We have some topics in our mutations area on spangles that may help you ....I have a few cinnamon grey green spangles myself.

For a pet shop they must buy their birds from a good breeder as they just get any of the budgies out and they all sit on your finger straight out of the cage, without their wings being clipped.

Just wondering what makes this bird so obviously a grey green cinnamon spangle? Is it the light feathers with the dark tips? Also he still looks like he has his baby feathers? How will he chage as he gets older? will his colours stay the same?

I hope I have this right for you but I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. Grey-green is the main body colour. Spangle is the marking on the tips of the wing feathers. When these are brown rather than black and the body colour generally becomes washed out we call this cinnamon.

hope that's right :D

His colour is grey green but also being cinnamon it makes his particualr shade of grey green lighter than if he was a normally marked budgie. Spangles have the darker edging to the wings and flights....a black edging if a normal spangle, but in this case a brown edging due to him being a cinnamon spangle. His colours may be a bit more clear as he moults.

This is a normal grey green budgie a332x.jpg

and this is a cinnamon grey green budgie AAA041.jpg

and here is a cinnamon grey green budgie chick aprilbudgies131.jpg

and her as an adult after her moult JUNE07150.jpg

He is really nice looking, does he have a name?

Yes this is the real Buddie Bird. He is very happy and appears to like it out of his cage more than in as he is always singing and preening himself when he's out, and loves singing in the rain

I just need to keep working on SWMBO about getting an aviary in spring :)

^_^ Your bird is lovely!!! As for that poster, you can get it in Canada and they ship internationally but there must be somewhere else easier to get it, this place is 15 minutes drive from my house and I have been getting my millet there in bulk for years. http://www.justforbirds.net/jfbhome.html
