Posted April 17, 200817 yr Well i just had to tell someone! everyone else i know is in bed well this is the 4th night buddy has been in our home and to start with he would flap around crazy everytime i went near him and yesterday he was quiet clam when i changed his water and seed and tonight he was even calmer! He was on the side of the cage (inside) and i put my finger near his foot and to my surprise he put one foot on mine! then he started to eat his seed treat that i gave him, and i sat their for as long as he was willing to keep his foot on my finger... 15 minutes went by and i had pins and needles and all of a sudden his other foot came off the side of the cage on to my finger! it was a momentus experience for both of us! im so proud of my little buddy bird! and after i couldn't take the pins and needles any longer, i moved my hand and he stayed on!! and then i put him near the perch and he steped on!! no flying feathers around the cage! well i just had to share that.... im so proud Edited April 17, 200817 yr by Buddy's mum
April 17, 200817 yr hurray! i remember my first experience with my budgie, ahhh great times just keep rembering, it will get even better than this
April 17, 200817 yr Isnt that just the BEST feeling? I fully understand the excitement and proud feeling.. and you'll find that feeling remains with you as he progresses. Its just so nice knowing your budgie trusts you enough to step onto your finger. I'll always remember the feeling when Charley first stepped onto mine. You want to shout it out to the world!! and arent we lucky that we can do that here... without the raised eyebrows of the "non budgie believers"!! Well done and enjoy your little "Buddie"!!!! There'll be so much more to come!!

April 18, 200817 yr that is wonderful news, it is great when your budgie starts interacting with you.
April 28, 200817 yr Author well buddy is progressing nicely! he is confindent enough to sit on my finger with in the cage! i was little worried about letting my 3 year old daughter put her hand in as i thought she might go at him too fast but i caved in and let her and he hopped on her finger without hesitation! i can let buddy out of the cage and easily get him back in by getting him to hop on a perch i am holding, but out of the cage he wont get on my finger. I generally do this when my daughter is in bed so not to terrify him too much, but the other night because she had been so good i got him out while she was still up, buddy flew around the corner of the lounge room to sit on the clothes airer and my daughter quickly followed, here i am in the lounge room growling at her for chasing him and telling her that he is still a little nervous and just let him explore peacfully, well... here comes this little girl from around the corner with a smile from ear to ear with buddy sitting happily on the perch she is holding!! She was mighty proud. It seems buddy is not as nervous around her... maybe it's that she is little and not so scary! Even though she is the noisy one I think that maybe buddy might end up being jades best buddy not mine :hap: Edited April 28, 200817 yr by Buddy's mum
