Posted April 4, 200817 yr Hope this works!!! Here she is, taken today Edited April 4, 200817 yr by Budgie_Girl
April 4, 200817 yr Author Her thingy near her beak was pink when I got her (sorry my knowledge of budgie bits is very limited).. It seems to be going a pink/purple kind of colour. The girl at the pet shop told me she was a girl. I have only noticed it today, but just dismissed it as my eyes playing tricks??
April 4, 200817 yr You must have bought him from one of those famous pet stores where they are trained to say pink for girls and blue for boys Edited April 4, 200817 yr by KAZ
April 4, 200817 yr Author NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, she is a he????? How can this be, do their bits change colour like this. It was pink when I got her/him on Saturday?? Now she/he will have a huge identity crisis.. Maybe we could have a girly boy bird.. All our pets are girls, even the kids..(Laughing out loud) :hap:

April 4, 200817 yr Pink doesn't usually mean girl... If anything pink is usually the signs of a young male when it's evenly coloured all over the cere... the hens have a more.... opaque look
April 4, 200817 yr Author Nah not sad, just feel like an idiot now... Pippin is good, or just plain old Pip. Gotta love the pet shop assistant...(Laughing out loud) Now to try & edit my heading!!!!

Oh, don't feel like an idiot. It's not your fault. The pet shop assistant just had no idea, which is no surprise. I had a lizard for three years before he died. It turned out Archie was actually a girl. I didn't bother changing his/her name...
April 4, 200817 yr It just proves what we always say....dont rely on petshop staff to get anything right
April 4, 200817 yr He is gorgeous! It's a common thing for people to be given the wrong information from pet stores so I wouldn't worry too much. It has happened to me a couple of times. All of my pet budgies are male and I find that they are more friendly and are easier to tame than the females so it's not so bad.
April 4, 200817 yr If you want go back there and tell them you bought a girl and this is a boy .... (Laughing out loud) sorry ... Like the others have said Boys are much easier then girl Bugies .... And he is a cutie
April 4, 200817 yr Author Thanks for making me feel better.. Now to go & have a talk to Pip & let him know that she is a he.. Wish me luck...(Laughing out loud)

April 4, 200817 yr I agree he is a cutie and he reminds me of Merlin's colors. All baby budgies' ceres are pink the intensity of the pink, large white nasal rings help identify the sex.
April 5, 200817 yr Thanks for making me feel better.. Now to go & have a talk to Pip & let him know that she is a he.. Wish me luck...(Laughing out loud) :hap:
April 5, 200817 yr Congratulations on Pippin (?Pipp) your new baby budgie, whatever the sex, beautiful!! :hap:
April 5, 200817 yr Pippin is a great boys name... Like Scottie Pippen only spelt differently... Your budgie will love it if you play 1990's Chicago Bulls games for him when you go out during the day... He'll also have a mean dunk if you put a small ring and ball in the cage :glare:
