Posted April 4, 200817 yr Hi again, I have a few questions regarding my budgies behaviour, I want to try & understand her.. 1.. She makes a sneezing squeeky noise, normally when I put something new in the cage.. Today it was water for dipping in.. 2.. She sometimes sits & opens her beak without any sound coming out.. I thought she was sick??? or trying to talk.. I have been trying to teach her?? 3... She kicks all her seed out of the dish onto the floor of the cage & my floor (thanks Pippa).. Is this normal or is she rebelling, trying to tell me something?? I will have plenty of others, but cant think of anything right now.. Any tips would be appreciated.. :rip: BG
April 4, 200817 yr Hey Budgie Girl i'm not an expert but what it sounds like is... 1) possibly is sneezing?! 2)thats sometimes a sign of being puffed and hot. 3)is she a baby? if so my baby Zeus does exactly the same thing. hope i helped although i'm sure other more experienced people will explain more. ♥Indz
April 4, 200817 yr Author Yeah, she is a baby, 3 months old I think. She still has the stripes on her head. The seed thing is a worry though, the ants like them better than she does at the moment. I might have to relocate her cage!! I have done a bit of study about training & everything I have read tells me to only have 1 person train her until she is used to them. Problem is I have 3 kids who cant help but stick their hands into her cage. I have told them not to, but they are sneaky!!! Should I make it so I am the only one that handles her until she gets used to me & then slowly introduce others?? Pip seems to be okay with it, but I do worry that I will raise an unstable feathered friend.. That would mean she fits in just nicely here...(Laughing out loud) :(Laughing out loud):
April 4, 200817 yr hahah Budgie_Girl! thats funny!! us kids can be naughty sometimes  It's probably not the right thing to do but with taming my budgies I go for the full frontal assault! Petie has been taken out of his cage litteraly almost everyday of the whole year i've had him!! and now i hve the tamest budgie I could have hoped for. How are old are your kids roughly? budgies get frightened by lots of people around them at once! if and when you introduce the new family member one at a time to the kidly winks. I know i'm bad I even took my budgies out the first day i got them...in the car....while we were driving :rip: ♥Indz
April 4, 200817 yr i have four kids and have 2 tame budgies and the kids handled them as much as i did when i was training them. I also handraised 4 babies which the kids cuddled alot and it did not seem to make them any harder to train. i had one of my birds who used to kick his seed every where but as he got older he grew out of the habit.
April 4, 200817 yr Author Kids are 12, 9 & 8!! All girls so they think Pip is their baby.. They are pretty good, they are sticking their faces near the cage as I type!! Oh there we go again, the arm is in now.. (Laughing out loud) I guess if Pip doesnt seem too worried about it, we will keep it to hands in the cage only.. She came out yesterday & had a sticky beak around the lounge room for 5 minutes, till we could catch her.. Naughty birdy!!
April 4, 200817 yr they are at a age where they understand about being gentle, my kids are 12, 10, 4 and 2 but my 4 year old is the one my birds love to climb all over, i have to watch my 2 year old.
April 4, 200817 yr Hi again, I have a few questions regarding my budgies behaviour, I want to try & understand her.. 1.. She makes a sneezing squeeky noise, normally when I put something new in the cage.. Today it was water for dipping in.. Does she also ruffle her feathers at the same time too? Merlin will do that, I think it is a bit of excitment. As long as you don't hear wheezing I am sure she is okay. 2.. She sometimes sits & opens her beak without any sound coming out.. I thought she was sick??? or trying to talk.. I have been trying to teach her?? Does she look like she is panting like a dog or just opening it up wide and closing a few times in a row (that is normal) 3... She kicks all her seed out of the dish onto the floor of the cage & my floor (thanks Pippa).. Is this normal or is she rebelling, trying to tell me something?? This is common in a hen she may be trying to nest in it or play with it keep an eye out. I will have plenty of others, but cant think of anything right now.. Any tips would be appreciated.. BG
