Posted April 4, 200817 yr Hey everyone, I have a few questions .... Those of you with Aviaries of birds How do you catch them when you need to either Worm/ Ivermectin or check them .... I usually use a net as my avairy birds are not hand tamed. Is this okay or are there other methods ... I ask this as the flights are due for wormer Oral is the best way I know as you know that each has had it proper dose ... Or am I better off adding it to their water ??? Thoughts please
April 4, 200817 yr I use a net Neat BUT for mass dosings like worming etc, I dose their water. For individuals that need dosing for whatever I catch them up with the net and treat.
April 4, 200817 yr hhmmm I have never wormed my birds...they are inside bird tho...does this matter?! I don't wanna be a bad mummy and let them get sick! ♥Inds
April 4, 200817 yr i do the same as Kaz with worming and put it in the water but for any time i need to catch them i just use my hands but i have only got 10 and do not have a big aviary.
April 4, 200817 yr Author As my base is Grass the chances of worms and other Yuckies its higher to that then a cement base avairy so I need to do this often ..... ... I think all birds should be wormed 2 times a year Mine will get it 4 timesSo Kaz with the Iverc stuff can that be added to water too ???

There is a specific water based one for adding to drinking water Neat. Not available everywhere...I get it through my budgie club. I treat every month during summer and every 3 months the rest of the year. I individually treat all incoming birds.
April 4, 200817 yr Hey luv... For worming etc... I add it to the water, but for spot on ivermectin I catch them with a net. They don't like it as they aren't tame, but it's less stressful than chasing them with my hands. Sometimes I can catch the budgies with my hands but the tiels are definatley NET material!!!
April 4, 200817 yr Author okay cause i have the oral / back of the neck one from my vet ... THought I might treat all birds ( quarrintne was have had this ) with that too since most of them were in the breeders avairy
April 4, 200817 yr tiels are definatley NET material!!! In my limited experience with tiels....they are both net and STEEL GLOVE material
