Didn't get as much done today as I would have liked. Mainly because I spent a few hours with Daz looking at his birds and talking about budgies. Came away with a couple of nice cock birds as well as some breeding boxes that I wiill collect soon.

Photos of the birds tomorrow.

Here is a picture of the mesh on. Looking through the wire you can make out the partly finished frame for the divider.

Looking wonderful Derek :hap: and close enough to the house that you could rig up some shadecloth out over the aviary, as an awning if it gets too hot in summer :hap:

I have lots of shady trees so that it is only in full sun for part of the day.

The problem with talking birds is that hours go by very quickly. I always love talking birds. :hap:

YAYAYYAYAYA Looks WONDERFUL much better constructed than my old thing but not as CUTE ! :P

And they say it's us women who can talk!!!

Looking good Derek. Looking forward to seeing the pics of the birds.

Getting anything of Daz is a good deal. Can't wait to see the cocks you are picking up. I will look on with envy when I see your breeding cages too. :P

My easy version of a safety door to prevent escapes....when there isnt a safety door.........is................

One of those mosquito nets that hang from a hoop on the ceiling over kids beds. Rig it up above your aviary door...step through the net to go in and out. When not in use put it up on top of the aviary again. Easy :D

This is the sectioned off back of the aviary where I will place my breeding cages. The middle section lifts out to allow access to them. Haven't figured out how I will fix that in yet.

Here is a close up of the little blokes. They are still a little shell shocked I think following the trip home and the new accommodation

Great job, Derek :) and very nice birds :yellowhead:

PS maybe that door needs to be two doors for easier opening ?

Congratulations Derek on your new aviary! The birds are beautiful! Hope everything goes well. :yellowhead:

very cute birds you've got there Derek... Good luck with the breeding cage section...

Looking good Derek. The birds look like they are settling in.

Have just finished giving the breeding cages a lick of paint and installed them inside the aviary. As you can see they fit neatly behind the screen so that the other birds can see but not touch. ;)

Nest boxes are new built by Daz.

If I thought the breeding cages would come up that good i'd have painted them long a go. ;)

The set up looks great Derek. You must be itching to get the pairing started. :P

Doesn't take long for the feathers to gather. I spend 3 hours cleaning my aviary every Saturday.

3 hours later the feathers are back! Watch the black plastic plugs, they will pick at anything.
