My New And First Aviary For 20 Years

Featured Replies

Posted

A visit today to the Australian Budgerigar Society Show in Brisbane and meeting our member Daz convinced me that I needed to start immediately on building an aviary and to start breeding some budgies so I ordered an Absco 1520 X 2260 X 1800 high pale eucalypt colorbond aviary. Expected delivery within a week or so.

This is the model

I plan to set it on a timber base not to far from the back of the house.

Stay tuned for upodates.

Cool!!

congrats hopefully you will be successful in your breeding!!!

Derek,

Fantastic aviary! I look forward to seeing it set up and budgies going in

Feathers.

Good going Derek. With Daz not too far away from you sounds like you are in the right area for some good advice. Hope it goes well and looking forward to seeing how it all goes. ^_^

What a good buy and I too can't wait to follow this thread!

Looks like its going to be GREAT :D

You mentioned a wood floor? Just make sure there is no gap underneath as this would be the most perfect environment for rats and mice to breed.. My parents had this issue MANYYYY moons ago (Laughing out loud).. I remember them ripping up the floor, my dad squealing like a girl and me about 3 yrs old running about with a bucket catching as many "pets" as i could :)

:) thats hillarious Una.

Congrats on the aviary Derek. I'd agree with Kaz you probably should see if you are able to get a safety door attatched... Good luck with the project and keep us posted :D

Awesome Buy Derek ... Look forward to the Whole Building stages ....

being close to Daz will be rewarding ..... I would love to have the set up like Daz it's a rippa

Good luck and make sureyou post those picture like promised (Laughing out loud)

Just got a phone call to say I can pick it up this Thursday. Not sure on fitting a second door until I get it. The reason for the timber floor is that I am only renting and putting a cement floor down is a no no.

Not only that a mate is getting it for me for nothing.

Put the word out saying I was looking for a couple of sheets of formply for the floor of my aviary. Got a call before saying that I had two and the cost was a big fat ZERO. Happy with that because the aviary wan't exceptionally cheap.

All is going to plan.

I will be ready for :budgiedance: next week at this rate.
