Posted March 27, 200817 yr This is Scooter He is a budgie that came from a petshop and has rickets causing him to have little use of his feet for perching. I am in the process of making him special perches and toys He still has 3 weeks of quarinene to go. And this is Latte.. She is the baby i have selected to be Scooters friend. She is a pretty Skyblue Cinnamon Pied. I took this picture of her this morning and she is already bigger than Scooter at 24 days old hehehehe She still has 2 weeks or so with her parents then she come inside. Here is their cage i purchased yesterday It is, as you can see, totally bare so i have LOTS of toy making and buying to do in the next few weeks I have always only had aviary birds, so having these two inside is going to be a real experience for me, i am very excited. I am hoping to tame Scooter. He is about 4-5 months old and quite flightly, but he is already calmer today then he was a week ago
March 27, 200817 yr Good news! I also have only 1 tame budgie Scooter and Latte are both gorgeous! I hope they become real tame for you!
March 27, 200817 yr How wonderful...reallly work with the younger one , get one really tame before the introduction. They are going to have so much fun together and with you.

I hope so.. i dont think there will be a problem taming Latte as i have held her since she was teeny weeny - i am hoping Scooter will see she is calm with me and tame for me too How wonderful...reallly work with the younger one , get one really tame before the introduction. They are going to have so much fun together and with you. I look forward to Latte coming inside... i feel the period between her coming out the the box and being weaned from her parents will be the toughest part.... they are beautiful birds, Scooter looks like my Tweety. It is a great experience having inside budgies, my children love having the tame budgies. My kids are crazy for birds - must be in the blood hehehe. I have had a tiel, Sammy, inside for about a month now. I have been taming him for my dad - Sammy is flying to Melbourne (to be with my dad) next Thursday. They are going to be devastated when Sammy goes Good luck and good fun! Latte is gorgeous, I also love that name. I look forward to hearing about your progress with cutie Scootie It will be great. I picked Latte for her name because her cinnamon markings are the colour of a perfect mid-strength latte.... MMMMMMmmmmm coffee hehehehe
March 27, 200817 yr NICE CAGE ! Nice bird the wee Latte is too. I'm sure she will be great company for Scooter & you will have a great time having these birds as inside pets.
March 27, 200817 yr Latte is so cute They are going to be so happy together in their (very nice) new cage! I have just ordered a bunch of new toys and stuff from http://www.parrotrescuecentre.com they are pretty good prices and I think that the profits go to looking after their birds, only safe materials and only charge a postage fee of like $8 for no matter how much you buy. Bea put me on to them. They even have a little happy house for budgies, which is like a fury hanging hut, so cute. My boyfriend put me on a spending ban after ordering from their website, so be careful!
March 27, 200817 yr Author I have just clipped both of Scooters wings... Now you can see how little he is compaired to Latte Scooter is currenly sitting quietly on my sholder!! He has either been handled before or he is one friendly bird Latte is so cute They are going to be so happy together in their (very nice) new cage! March 27, 200817 yr They also have the diy perch hardware kits, if you need to make any for Scooter. I am sending my boyfriend up our gum tree tomorrow to find me a nice branch to make mine
March 27, 200817 yr OH Liv ... he is a wee guy. What a poor baby. He looks even smaller without his flights. He seems pretty calm with you. I'm impressed.
March 27, 200817 yr Author he is tiny... he is my smallest bird now. I am blown away, he is still sitting happily on my shoulder. He is nibbling my hair - Just because my hair is the colour of millet, doesn't mean it tastes like millet hahahaha

Fantastic!
March 27, 200817 yr that is a great cage, l have the exact same cage for my budgies. both of your budgies are gorgeous
March 27, 200817 yr How cute that he is sitting on your shoulder playing with your hair! I have a tiny wee baby, still in the nest box that was the last of a clutch of 8. A friend of mine recently adopted some of my "retired" budgies and a couple of babies for her father's nursing home. They have a fabulous new aviary to spend their twilight years at and I think my tiny wee one will be going there too.
March 27, 200817 yr Author Perhaps there is someting in the air today.... or something with the weather change, because when i went in my avairy this morning to do my usual rounds, i was mobbed by all my young male budgies (they are all 5 months old). They were sitting on my shoulder, standing on my hand and nibbling at me.... was realllllllyyy ODD Perhaps I have changed my shampoo to some sexy budgie ferimone (sp?) scent or something hahaha
March 27, 200817 yr Latte is cute as. I'm sure they'll get along really well too. I can't wait to watch their journey.

March 29, 200817 yr Author I spent all day at the shops yesterday buying bits to make loads of bird toys hehehe So far i have made Scooter a flat bottomed, no slide off, ricket friendly swing Made with stainless steel wire, hard plastic beads, funky hard plastic shapes and 100% natural cotton cord All that effort and he has done nothing but stare at it :hap: i will make some shrader toys soon. i bought lots of natural reefa (sp?) which sould be popular
March 29, 200817 yr That swing looks fantastic!!! When I first made my toys, the tiels took about 5 mins to check them out, some of the budgies took 5 days!!! It looks like your birds are going to be very spoilt... :hap:
April 1, 200817 yr Author Scooter likes his swing :budgiedance: He has been chewing at it and chatting it up for a day or so so i had suspected he might jump on it soon. I peeked under his cover late last night to see him roosting on his swing hehehe Its a shocking photo, but i didn't want to scare him. Scooter is a lovely boy. He is currently sitting on my shoulder singing sweetly to my birds outside. Latte is growing fast and looks almost ready to fledge. I really look forward to her coming inside :budgiedance: Edited April 1, 200817 yr by **Liv**
April 1, 200817 yr Oh... that just brings a smile to my face. He looks very happy and I too can't wait 'till his girl comes inside
April 1, 200817 yr Awwwww......such a cute picture! Your swing looks awesome, you did a great job. Where did you buy your stuff from? I might have to make up a fancy swing for Vi to play on at some point (when Adam makes fixtures for me to attach toys to (Laughing out loud))
