Massage the crop softly... they usually work their way out...

Another way I have seen is to "pop" the air bubble.

Sterilise a sewing needle and gentle pass it through the wall of the crop and immediately withdraw the needle.

This does not hurt the chick.

Thanks karen for the reply but i am too much of a sook i dont think i would be able to do that and not cry

Nice illistration on the link Karen. I have not come across this in my birds and am hoping not too.

Luckily I haven't although I know others that have and it is a stressful time for both breeder and chick.

Many chicks die before help is sought.

Another thing is also sour crop. If there is a yeast type smell coming from the chicks beak it must be taken to an avian vet (or bird experienced vet) for a crop wash and medication.

I had air before. Kaz told me how to do it. Sit the baby in one hand. using you thumb and index finger of the other hand, slowly squeeze the crop. Start below or jus ton the bottom of the air bubble and work you way up. the little chick should open its mouth as the air is forced out. Be careful as you do not want to force the food back up.

I would try what dave has suggested first and use the pin as a last resort. I would think that holes in tissues around fermenting food, would get infected easily.
