A Feast - Fit For A Bird

Featured Replies

Hello,

I took a few photos this weeks of my birdies eating their vegies. This week they have had corn, which they absolutely LOVE.

Upper Floor Broccoli, Lower Floor Corn and Carrot!!!

YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First one into carrot or corn is always Bean,

a green clearwing from Paul H.

Second in line is usually Graye,

my YF grey boy...

and, wherever there is carrot there is another of Paul H's birds, the YF blue at the back

aptly named Karitz because he normally has an orange stained face

First into the upper floor is Daddy,

he loves his Broccoli.

Then comes along my stupid, but beautiful, dilute violet clearwing baby budgie

who not only checked out the veggies, but wanted to know if the chain was tasty too!

"Hey, you.. ceramic budgie... do you talk?"

Ceramic budgie: "You guys talking to me?"

And what do you get left with??

Not a lot of this.....

Great photos Feathers!!! I must say, I LOVE your veggie feeder.

What a great idea. Can I use something similar in my aviary? I may be able to adapt something similar with an ant proof attachment to stop the little **** from getting the fresh food (mine aren't as eager as yours. My ants LOVE water and climb everywhere to get any vegies or damp seed.

Lookin good Feathers, they look like bobbing ducks eating upside down!! Mine love their daily treats they're great to watch as they really get into it dont they.

Whatever happened to Paul, is he still around??

How cute, I do love your "veggies" feeder too that is neat.

Thanks Maesie and Elly,

That is one of three vegie feeders I use. The other two are (probably quite expensive) Maxwell Williams condiment dishes. I have been looking around for something like this one for ages, I finally found it in the gift shop at Perth Zoo. Kaz had some similar ones that I have coveted from afar for a while.

I have never had a problem with ants, Maesie, but this would have to give your birds a head start over them, surely?

Pie I saw Paul popped up on line last week. He is still about, just a little quieter right now.

Feathers.

Your birds look like they eat better than me Aly. They certainly didn’t waste much.

Thats so cool!!!

I love watching them pig out!!

My birds LOVE carrot and apple!!

haahahha NickNack!!! you come up with the funniest things  (Laughing out loud)

Funny NickNack... I was waiting for someone to comment on the upside down budgie. That df spangle was arguing with a BIG grey over who had rights to that particular section of skipping rope... He lost and then came back a little later for his share :D You don't miss much, do you?? :fear

Great feeders. I am going to see if I can steal that idea and find some like that. If not, I will make some

I had looked around for some like these for 12 months before I saw it. It was the only one the zoo shop had and they didn't know if they could get more in. I looked around in bird stores and hardware stores for bird feeders. I was SO happy when I found this one... I want two more, let me know if you find some, Dave....
