Another one for you all .... Is there an all in one for birds ??? Like the Dogs all in one heart wormer and flea thingy....

 

I know that you shouldn't treat if there are no signs

But for Newly Bought or given birds Where you have no idea of what they have / Haven't got -

 

So Example Any new Bird I get / Buy I worm Now if it has Mites/Lice or God knows what else is there something I could use??????

I know what works and over 300 budgies at various times tells me it does

Did you know, that you should never use Ivermectin on collie dogs? They lack a certain something (i forget, they said it in lectures) that does not prevent it form entering the brain and they go into a deep coma for several weeks. There is also another animal that this happens to but i can't remember at this point.

 

However i believe it is best not to use a chemical, because that is what all drugs are, willy nilly. A chemical is a chemical. Use when needed and sparingly. People have had animals die, from being defleaed too much.

 

if you are worried, get a vet to take a faecal and a skin sample. Intestinal parasites will show up in the faeces (well their eggs will) and external parasites, will leave some evidence of their presence in the skin.

I also treat all my new birds with Ivermectin & have had no ill effects from it; it will remove all internal worms & external mites. But then you have bacterial problems, yeasts & viruses, so there isn't any one treatment treats all.

Thanks Norm ... I went out the other day and got Sulphadim for bacteria infections ( though still don't know what to look for if it is bacterial) I think runny poos am i correct in that .... I added it to my BUGIE FRIST AID KIT : )
