The number you are quoting seem to be too many....also there is usually a number next to a zero or a dash, a triangle, or a diamond...this number goes vertically up the band while other numbers go horizontally. Check again with a magnifying glass, as the bands get very hard to read as they age.

I had another look and there's an 09 going vertically up the band......

Just curious, when you bought her in 2004 who did you buy her from and how old did you think she was? Was she sold as a baby? Were you actually given any idea of how old she might be?

I can remember asking how old she was and they said they weren't exactly sure but when they sell birds as 'adults' it just meens they're not babies and the cere is showing male or female. So I was under the impression she was maybe 6 months old or so, not six years!! I thought she had her first moult with me too.

 

 

I don't know how to insert photos but I have one of what I thought was her first moult

Liv, how do you know that the age is incorrect. What is on the band? It looks like he is wearing a gold ring, which were issued in 1994, 2000 and 2006. It would be strange that a breeder would put a 1994 ring on a bird that was bred in 2004.

I love her no matter what age she is, I just hate the thought that she'll be gone sooner than I thought (pray to god she's here for many years to come).

She is a pretty girl and my grandma's bird lived to be 16y so she has a lot of life in her
