May 12, 200816 yr Author [Here's another chick from another nest.....Mum wanted to start round 3 and stripped this little hen chicks feathers from chest to butt underneath, not on top I removed the chick...had to crop feed it over 4 days as it went into a decline. I put it in the kindie cage just 2 days ago where a disabled old hen was and the hen has taken the chick on as her own and is feeding it. All well and feathers are growing back ( Notice the full crop ) This cute little hen is looking much better and now growing her tummy feathers back after her Mum plucked her

May 15, 200816 yr Author Will do, Pie Today in the birdroom, one chick hatched through the night and died. One of my "disabled" budgies died ( but for him it was a blessing ), and a hen who had just laid six eggs, was found dead ( no signs of ill health at all ). Her eggs have been fostered. A couple of chicks were large enough to legring. Winstons eldest is very large. Fledged youngsters coming out.............three spangles and a DF white spangle, four of Curry's babies also, and three left in the nest ( one adopted ). George and Amira's grey girl in her foster nest likes it too well and is staying in there. I will have to take my husband through the birdroom and verse him up on all the birds, babies and nests as he will be caretaker while I am at the Nationals at the end of next week.
May 15, 200816 yr So sorry for your losses. It seems to be the season for eggs, chicks and sadly unknown deaths. Hugs for you! Also, sounds like some exciting things have happened too. Yah! and have a blast at the nationals.
