Posted January 29, 200817 yr The boys have a new friend for the week. We're bird sitting a little green budgie called Tiggy. He's been having a lovely time playing with my flock. I was very surprised that he wasn't afraid of the tiels! You can see a little smile on Cookie's face, she has ANOTHER handsome green budgie to fall in love with! Blinkie is particularly happy to have a new friend, he thinks Tiggy is so cool! He's even stopped pestering poor Gracie, which is nice for her. Tiggy flying over to the big cage. Blinkie going after him Fizzy looking rather dashing Ozzie, handsome as always! And Blinks, i had to tell him to be nice to Tiggy because Tigs isn't used to flirty budgies bashing their beaks against his! Edited January 29, 200817 yr by Bea
January 29, 200817 yr :hap: That's so cute! I love the way they're checking him out!!! And Blinkie... what a fast mover
January 29, 200817 yr they are great pictures and Tiggy seems to have settle in really well with your birds.
January 29, 200817 yr Author Tiggy has settled in quick! I was told he's very shy, and he's not really handtame, but he sure is being friendly. He comes out as soon as i open his cage and plays with the boys. He's taken a real liking to Ozzie, they've just been playing tag. :hap:
January 29, 200817 yr Awesome photo's Bea! I like the new boy... He has an... arrogance about him in the picture, very fetching :hap: and blinkie looks stunning there too! him and Ozzie are my favourite of your flock
January 29, 200817 yr Fantastic photo's Bea. Your flock looks very happy and they all get along so well. They are all so cute! :ygbudgie: Do you keep your budgies and tiels together in the same cage?
January 29, 200817 yr Author Do you keep your budgies and tiels together in the same cage? Nope, definitely not. The budgies are way too rowdy and they would give the tiels a hard time.
January 29, 200817 yr Do you ever get worried about sickness since the ones you babysit are not quarantined? I wondered I would be scared. They all look like they are having a blast
January 29, 200817 yr What do you do about quarantine rules when babysitting birds ? Edited January 29, 200817 yr by KAZ
January 29, 200817 yr Author Depends on the bird. The tiels i baby sit are my friends and i see them all the time, i know they're extremely healthy. Tiggy is an only bird and has been for a long time, i consider that a good long quarantine. If it were a bird i didn't know, or a bird i knew to be unhealthy (e.g. my friends love bird) i would keep it away from my guys.
January 30, 200817 yr I guess I am just paraniod since Pretty died and reading here that birds can carry bacteria and it may not affect them but other birds it could affect, everyone does what they think is best .
January 30, 200817 yr Author Well i can't see how quarantine is any different being in a different house or a different room. In fact most sources say a different building is best anyway!
January 30, 200817 yr well for debate purposes you can say that about a pet store too a different building right .... I know what you are getting at Bea ....I trust your judgement.
January 30, 200817 yr Author well for debate purposes you can say that about a pet store too a different building right ....I know what you are getting at Bea ....I trust your judgement. If it were a pet store with just one bird it would be the same, hehe.
January 30, 200817 yr :ygbudgie: Tiggy fits in well and everybody is having a blast!!! I know what you mean, I would NEVER birdsit any birds from people I didn't know and would want to know the bird's history before putting them amongst my flock. To sequester them in the bedroom would seem so cruel when they are used to being part of the action but I would if their health background was questionable. Very difficult to assess. :book:
February 1, 200817 yr Great pics Bea,do you think Tiggy will miss his new friends when he goes home? Looks like he is having so much fun.
February 2, 200817 yr Author I'm sure he'll miss them. He went home yesterday. Blinkie seemed quite upset to lose his new buddy.
February 2, 200817 yr Gorgeous pics' as always Bea, you really are getting quite a collection, I think you should start charging per day .
