My New Baby, Coco

Hi All

Great website.

I just wanted to post some pics of my 1st budgie I bought today, Coco. I think he is a he, can anybody tell by the pics? They are quite unclear, only taken from a mobile phone. I think he is pretty young, bars down to his beak.

Cheers for all the great info

He does appear to be a he and is a YF1 violet/cobalt by the look of things

What a cutie!!

Looks like he likes having his picture taken too

Thanks everybody, I am attached to him already.

He has not made a sound since I brought him home, is this normal behaviour for a male?

You bought him home today yeah?...then it's very normal! He'll be a little stressed until he settles in. You may also notice his poos may be runny and he may not eat and drink a whole lot. Give him time and he should be fine! Just talk to him lots and make him feel welcome :(Laughing out loud): Check out the posts in the "bringing home a new budgie" section (where your first post was)and/or the FAQ's. They should give you some idea of what to expect.

Thank you for your help. It would be a big shock for the poor little guy. I will just give him some time. If he doesn't start to become a little more vocal in the next week or so - would that suggest that perhaps my he is a she?

Possibly, may take a little longer. If he can hear god's birds (outside birds) and/or a radio, he might start becoming more vocal :(Laughing out loud):
