Posted January 19, 200817 yr Hi guys, just thought i'd share some gorgeous photo's my partner and i took of our birds today at a trip to our park. They're very cute and since i live on a park it wasnt a stressful journey for them, i think they actually quite enjoyed it... what do you think? :budgiedance:
January 19, 200817 yr :(Laughing out loud): I just love how they play on their backs!!! They look soooo happy! Aren't you worried they might fly away?
January 19, 200817 yr Awww Lorikeets are just beautiful aren't they? :budgiedance: . Edited January 19, 200817 yr by Little one
January 19, 200817 yr Author No bea, not worried at all they're both clipped Kiki has all feathers except 3 primary flights and can fly really well but not unless thrown first and he has to catch a updraft, even then he can get no more height than 1/2 m off the ground... Lala has all primary flights clipped and can't fly far at all.. only to the ground, and that's about it :yellowhead: so they enjoy their"flight" time at the park when we throw them up.. Kiki got about 50ms today and then a tumble roll landing because of how much speed he had gotten up... was quite funny actually :budgiedance: he took it a little easier after that
January 19, 200817 yr They're beautiful birds and they're both obviously having such a ball out in the park.
January 19, 200817 yr They're both stunning, I love rainbow lorikeets, they have such vibrant colours. It looks like they are both enjoying themselves :fear .
January 19, 200817 yr Author I think they were both trying to play hide and seek with me so i'd leave them there when i couldn't see them in the long grass :fear

January 19, 200817 yr The photos are fantastic Libby ............beautiful birds. I think I should call you the "BIRD WHISPERER" ...............you have a way with birds :rip:
January 19, 200817 yr wow you are brave to take them to the park with no leashes (I read what you said above) but still brave I wouldn't be that brave :rip:, they are beautiful and I am glad they had a good time. I know I am a downer but one thing about the park is make sure they don't spray their grass with anything for insecticides or pesticides because that can be harmful as you know. Again they are gorgeous.
January 20, 200817 yr Author Nope elly, no spraying or anything done i literally live on it and i'm home all the time, lived here for 18 yrs and see all .... my drive connects to the grass :hap: only things ever done at the park by coucil members are mowing, airation (where they make little holes in the ground), dog poo bin gets emptied, sprinklers (bore water) and tree lopping once a year... so no, it's all safe :fear I don't need leashes luckily enough... even though it's a dog park dogs tend to only be walked morning and night (there's a big group of old people every morning and night ) Why thank you karen i think the birds love their freedom as much as we like giving it We had leroy (sulfur crested cocky) out with us there the other day for a fly, he did quite well... He too has only a few feathers still missing from his last clip and when thrown up into the air flew down quite gracefully and well.. i think he enjoyed it also i'll try get some pics when we take him out today
