One Of My Show Type Birds:

Featured Replies

Merlin was like that for a month this past moult and now he is back to normal. I noticed when most of his PINS were gone on his head he was feeling so much better. He is almost clear and his head is looking pretty and poofy again.

i hope she settles down. she is only 4 months old and she has my other 5 budgies in the aviary scared of her. she is still scruffy looking and has all her black stripes on her head still. sorry, not sure what you call the marks on their head so i hope you know what i mean. it is interesting what you where saying about different conditions make the moulting times vary because my handraised male is in the house and is the same age and has not started moulting at all.

The marks on their heads are called bars have we had a picture of your bird? Some mutations keep some of their barring into adult, mostly the bars only clear on the forehead.

i just went and took a new photo of her and noticed her bars are going lighter. she is a cobalt spangle i think. it was cloudy when i took the photo so who blue is darker than how she looks in the photos.

Thanks for the picture Deb; yes it's a Spangle so the bars will only moult out on the forehead & will stay on the back of the head.

Such pretty birds Norm!!!

The Texas one looks very special :)
