Two New Birds Out Of Quarantine

Featured Replies

Posted

I bought two new birds a few weeks ago and they have been in quarantine. They are pet types. I really only bought them because they were great colours and I needed some more colurful pet types. Mostly I breed for show now, but I am keeping a range of pet type budgies so I can breed some pretty birds on occasion for people I know. Also keeping some pet types breeding means I have reliable foster parents when show types fail at raising babies.

So they havent got names yet.

Here the boy....cinnamon dominant pied, most likely sky violet

:ygbudgie: Very pretty Kaz, yes, pieds are beautiful and I am sure my pied budgie, COMET is responsible for a lot of "stuff" that goes on here!! :D

I love the hen and her yellow face coloring, even though they are pet types they look English (show).

Oh I love the Hen it looks like she has been dipped, sort of like someone has picked up up by the tail and dipped her head first into some mixed paint or something. Or it could just be the pictures.

So very cute

They're both beautiful budgies! :D

Yes...I try not to choose very small pet types. Small pet types in my experience indicates they were usually bred by bird mills and usually to related partners...too close interbreeding and bred too young in mixed aviaries will produce smaller and smaller birds.

I could not pass by this hen. She is very much like a boy I had and called CUSTARD. Custard died in a freak accident in the aviary. :D

The hen, once released into the aviary a couple of days ago has paired up with one of my young lads...a YF grey boy ( from violet parents ) ......so I will try them together at an appropriate time and see what comes.

How funny that a yf grey chose a yf grey mate! :D Do you find that your budgies choose to pair up with similar colours to themselves usually?

No. Usually they pick a totally wrong partner for themselves. But I have noticed that a certain boy will consistently choose the same colours of hen as his first partner ...like they have a favourite. Like certain men like blondes over brunettes...budgies are similar.

Nice birds , if the hen had abit more ground colour she would be a continental clear flight , { nice}. :P

What a nice pair Kaz! I especially like the Hen, she's spunky :(Laughing out loud): . Best of luck with the newbies. maeise xxx

They look nice Kaz, the hen looks like a good breeder…good luck with them.

I would think they are half and half if not from show lines there Kaz.

But I like that Hen and why not Triffle for her name?? Custard is a dessert so why not follow a Theme :budgiedance:

TRIFLE....?? Yeah, why not :D Good name.

These two were sold to me as show birds....I refused to pay the higher price for them as show birds as they were not rung and certainly not to size. Then the bird dealer sold them to me at pet price.

both very nice like the hen tho
