Posted November 9, 200717 yr It's a weird thing, but every night at around 7:30 my birds all leave their perches to go to one side of the aviary to sleep. I put perches up there and some below them but they like their heads right under the aviary roof. If they can't find a perch, they hang on the the mesh. . When you walk outside when it's dark, you can just see all of the feathers and colours under the roof on the one side of the cage. It's odd, so we're going to get a big perch and put it right along the one side that they all sleep on so they all get a 'spot'.
November 9, 200717 yr I believe it to be instinct my bird (s) do the same thing. I believe it is for saftey reasons the higher the better especially at night.
November 9, 200717 yr your welcome, I believe a lot of people would agree they have night time squabbles or their birds go to the highest points here too.
November 10, 200717 yr My birds do this too. I thought it was to cool down on a hot night at first but they seemed to do it in all weather - just hang onto the wire right up by the roof. Thanks for posting this and for your answer Elly.
