Posted October 27, 200717 yr We have almost finished our aviary today, only a couple more things to do before the birds go in tomorrow hopefully. Getting the ground ready: The frame arrives: Finishing off: As you can see my youngest loves to be in photos
October 27, 200717 yr Hi Denise, It is fantastic... love the placement of the safety door too. I take it the hubby and his bro talked you out of having a concrete slab floor after having put up half of it before you told them The roofing is great and I love the skipping rope... my birds love them too. Great job, and you son is gorgeous Feathers. Edited October 27, 200717 yr by Feathers

October 28, 200717 yr Author Hi Denise, It is fantastic... love the placement of the safety door too. I take it the hubby and his bro talked you out of having a concrete slab floor after having put up half of it before you told them The roofing is great and I love the skipping rope... my birds love them too. Great job, and you son is gorgeous Feathers. They still put down the concrete pavers for the floor, we also put sand on top of them. When we put the birds in there this morning they all had a ball on the floor with the sand they love it. I only had 12 budgies to put in there as the other 20 are all in breeding boxes, so they look a bit lonely in that big space. KAZPosted Today, 01:56 Wonderful job, Denise Great size too. Hope you get along well with the neighbours by your back fence It's along our side fence actually. We have an elderly couple on that side, he's lovely (half deaf) but his wife already complains that our boys make to much noise so now she'll have something else to complain about.....hehehe
October 28, 200717 yr Denise, did you check with your local council about how far from the fence you had to situate your aviary ? Some say 500 mm or half a metre and others a full metre. You dont want to give your neighbours a reason to call in the council. Neighbours can be the worst enemy of bird keepers.
October 28, 200717 yr Denise, are you in the Greater Geelong or Golden Plains Shire. It might make a difference. You might have to sound proffe the noise from your neighbour.I know one budgie breeder. That had to change his aviery around to cut down on the noise. Because they can make a bit of noise, first thing in the mornings, when they start to sing.
October 28, 200717 yr Author We are in Golden Plains Shire. I rang the Council and the girl I spoke to new of no laws regarding bird avairys in our area and I asked her to put that in writing and send me a copy which she did. We also have a relation that works in a different department at the Council and will give us a heads up if anyone complains.
