...and no they are not rare. About as common as most varieties.

i wouldn't say rare either :( you can pick them up at most places... the violet picture from little one looks a little tampered with but here's my opaline visual violet cock

I have a lot of visual violets. I would not say they are rare at all, but some areas we live in may not have them in numbers depending on what people are choosing to breed.

I do think, some ppl get mixed up with voilets & cobalts. There is more chance

of them being cobalts, then voilets. Some of the pictures you see being called

voilets are cobalts. :D

Violets come in different shades and some of the coloring can be enhanced in photos by flashes. Merlin is a violet in my signature he is a gorgeous almost blue jean type of blue. His blue always come out different in a flash very similar to the pics above.

Who am I to argue. These breeders that are always quoteing violets.Ive not seen

any mention of mauve. If you are big on voilets there is a % of mauves.Perhaps they

think they are greys. :D:D;)

I have some beautiful Yellowface Visual Violets in my aviary and every time I try and photograph them as they truly look ( a very strong purple lavender colour ) the photos just show them looking blueish. Photos of violets just never show right on here, regardless of what our eyes see at home.

(Laughing out loud) I am a mauve lover too :D

I have a budgie who is lilac in colour. So would she be a dilute voilet? I will have to get a photo of my birds next time i have my camera with me.

Gosh KAZ, they are such gorgeous birds!! I am so envious. I dont think Ive seen any violets here so far, but hopefully that will change when I join the club tomorrow night :) I have mauves that I thought were greys :) Am I right in saying that mauves look grey but have blue on their cheeks?

I think two of the babies in my signature are violets and their dad also
