Weird Poop!

I have had ongoing problems with Max my spangle since Christmas last year when he suffered a stroke. Miraculousy he made a 70% ish receovery but since then has been plagued with other sicknesses. I take him to the vets once every 4 weeks now because thats the rate his overgrown beak grows at. Next week he is having bloodwork done to try and determine why its growing so fast.

The newest health worry is his poops. The past 3 days they have looked like this:-

They actually look lighter than they do in these pictures. They are of perfect consistency- just very light.

Anyone have any idea what may be causing this?

The budgie has an issue with his pancreas and it needs urgent checking

You think Karen, I wonder why this wasnt picked up in his vet visit 3 weeks ago. Is it a sudden thing. I will ring my vet today and tell them your intial thoughts of diagnosis.

Karen could you explain a little more about what you actually thing is wrong with his pancreas. Have you experienced this with any of your birds?

Thanks for that - poor little bird he has had nothing but bad luck. Issue after issue. He is a tough cookie though and if anyone can fight off illnesses my Max can.

I'll let you know how he gets on.

Yes...I had a bird doing exactly that kind of poops. It was a newly bought in bird in the quarantine cage when I noticed the poops looking like that. It turned out to be an infection of the pancreas and is treatable when discovered early. As my bird was bought with the condition the breeder took the bird back and resumed the treatment advised by the vet. I dont know what happened after that. The vet may not have seen his droppings look like that if it wasnt as advanced at that point or the symptoms were mixed up with other issues...or the cage he was in did not allow for checking droppings like we are seeing them now :budgiedance:

Just wanted to say that my "boy" has been going thru the mill too for the past 5 years (have posted bits and bobs on here from time to time). The beak growth sounds like liver problems to me as Percy's does the same and he has liver disease (and fatty lipoma). As for his droppings, have seen them similar to the photo you have included, but they can be anything from milky water, all grey, plain water, greeny grey, sometimes dark grey, sometimes all white, soft, firm, hard... etc etc... and always tinged with green staining around the paper! He is sometimes constipated too or at least strains to go... it's a nightmare for him so I do know what you are going through Boomberry.... and boy arn't the little fella's fighters? So sorry to know yours had a stroke poor mite... hope the vet can sort him out with the latest problem... can you let me know what he says please as I am still so desperate to get Percy sorted but all the vets do is occasional antibiotic injections and I give him probiotics et al... all to no avail and it's driving me (and Percy) mad!! sigh.

Good luck and keep us posted.
