September 18, 200717 yr Author They are lovely photos Kaz. Could you please tell me what the plate of bread is, is it soaked in something or just plain bread. Our birds love the fruit and vegies but I haven't tried bread. We use 5 seed or heavy multigrain wholemeal bread. Soak it in warm water with their vitamins added. Sometimes it has a couple of tablespoons of Budgie Breeder mix in it and sometimes a couple of tablespoons of Insectivore Rearing mix Great pics Kaz...love the canariesAre canaries hard to bread...comparied with budgies.....We have had a lot of trouble with our original pair of canaries Paul. Now we have a few more and the pairing is different we seem to be having our first "almost" success
September 18, 200717 yr Great pics Kaz...love the canariesAre canaries hard to bread...comparied with budgies..... Budgies are a walk in the park…compared with Canaries Paul. I think the problem is that over time breeders have fostered & hand reared so many that the problem is that you get parents that just sit there & let them starve. Often they are so much work & still you have failure, Budgies are much more rewarding. I hope breeders don't make the same mistake with them. My thoughts are its better to loose a few young than raise birds that are not capable of raising their own young. It may be sad for the few birds, but a whole lot better for the fancy. I agree with you Missy, not only do their birds eat better than mine, they eat better than me even…Nice pics Kaz, you have some Red Factor Canaries also do you? Edited September 18, 200717 yr by Norm

September 19, 200717 yr Great pictures Kaz. The canary I call Jaffa is a rich orange and chocolate colour. Is he a red factor ? Red factor means they can be fed colouring food to enrich the colour in the feathers (red food turns them redder)
