Posted August 25, 200717 yr My bird is an acrobat. He sits on his natural perch, flings his body towards the bottom of the cage, and then swings around back up to the normal standing position, with his feet on the perch the whole time. He will do this for a few minutes and then stop. Does anyone elses bird do this?
August 25, 200717 yr One of my first batch of babies who lives with my friend does this it is funny to watch. Keep eye one it becuase it can become a bad habit ( continuous daily) I know he is just new so the normal thing suggested (out of cage time) isn't possible. Have you started hand taming yet?
August 25, 200717 yr Author Is it bad if they do it everyday? It has done it the last 3 days. The only thing l can do is put my hand in the cage and it will jump onto my finger, he will also let me gently stroke his chest. He won't let me touch the back of his head yet though.
August 25, 200717 yr It is bad if they do it with out stopping for most of the day. In a running about I'm in a fun mood time it's fine if it happens each day. It's great that he will get on your finger already. Use millet as a reward tool. Most budgies will do anything for it. Start moving your hand slowly around the cage while he is on your finger to get him use to the movement as well. A lot of budgies don't like head scratches so if you keep at that it may take a while.
August 25, 200717 yr Author He does it mostly when he's excited and showing off Ah, thanks for reminding me about the millet - l bought some last week and forgot about it :hap:
