Posted August 19, 200717 yr hi guys i was wondering wat it means when you have a full yellow bird but it has blue markings i thought that if it ia a yellow bird it will have green markins will post pics soon thakns :budgiedance:
August 19, 200717 yr Author i know i was just asking if it was normal to have a yellow bird with blue fethers because i thought that budgie were either white or yelow like to get a green the blue is added to a yello but if u want a blue blue is added to white tks
August 19, 200717 yr There is the yellowface gene. If your bird is a pied and yellowface it will look mostly yellow with some blue markings. This gene only blocks some of the yellow in the feathers.
August 19, 200717 yr Looking forward to your pictures and then we can help you some more :budgiedance:

August 20, 200717 yr Author okay, here are some photo's that I just took of the new hen. What do you all think??? Sandy, (Josh's mum)...
August 20, 200717 yr Yep she would be a yellow face. She has very interesting feathers over her back there, the barring seems to have extended a little far. Quite cool How old is she cause her cere looks quite mature and she still has barring quite far forward on her head, it it possible thats he may have a bit of blackface in her. August 20, 200717 yr Yellowface type 2 Recessive pied. By the look if the brighter feathers in patches and the cere only just changing colour I would thing about 3-4 months old and starting the big moult to get the adult plumage when the head bars are lost. The back patch does look interesting.

Hi Nerwen The yellow came out a bit brighter in the photo's than what they are in real life, I think because I was taking the photo with the light in the background..... We got her on Saturday and were told that she's about 11 weeks old. In that patch on her back, there are blue and green individual feathers and the black ones. The main body yellow is patchy but there are no white feathers. I can't wait to see what her adult color will be.... When should she start? Sandy
August 20, 200717 yr She is a pretty one. As an adult her yellow may bleed more into her blue and change into a more seafoam type of green the adult plummage usually doesn't look much different but after a molt the birds colors can become more vibrant. Her molt will start when she is around 3-4 months and she will have one every 4-6 months. Since I don't see any black or grey marking on her back I would say she is a clearwing too along with being a yellowface type 2 recessive pied.
August 20, 200717 yr I finally remembered in what topic I had seen feathers like that before (I first thought of the dusk budgie) Hommer had a funny looking bird and was asking about it http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....0marks&st=0 But the pictures don't work now I think the answer was at last picked on being stress marks and with your bird they should moult out. The yellow came out a bit brighter in the photo's than what they are in real life, I think because I was taking the photo with the light in the background..... We got her on Saturday and were told that she's about 11 weeks old. well 11 weeks is close to 3 months. I was use what happened with my yellowface pied baby. young, very white: moulting, mixed feather of bright and pale: adult, bright feathers:

August 21, 200717 yr Here is a picture of a half sider Hi KAZ is the half sider yours it's beatifull. No...it belongs to a show breeder and was displayed at a show as they are extremely rare and literally a freak of nature just like feather dusters are. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....p;hl=half+sider
