How Can I Stop My Noisy Birds?!?!?!?!

Around 8:30-9:00am, they all start screaming! How can I stop this? And also, How can I keep them quiet when guests are here?

That’s going to be hard, your lucky mine in the aviary start chattering soon after 5am. Budgies like to make noise it’s part of being a Budgie, re when guests arrive I can only suggest you move them to the other side of the house or something like that.

yup... budgies like to make noise. Ours have a noisy period in the morning too. The only thing that has seemed to help with the noise for us is to give them other ways to release their energy. They still make noise, but not as much.

I would say that is noisest here for Merlin too and budgies love to make noise. When you have guests they tend to be even louder because the guests are loud. You can put them in a different room or cover them for the event.

Only way to keep them quiet in the morning is make the house pitch black. They only chatter when the sun comes up.

The more budgies you have, the noisier it gets. I have a couple of hundred and its really noisy at my place. :(

I am also in a bit of a predicament...I have just finished my large aviary, in it it has 1 large Aviary for finches, and 2 small aviaries, one for finches not breeding and 1 for budgies not breeding, ALso in it i have a Breeding Room.Over the last month i have purchased around 18 nice budgies to breed and enjoy. I also agreed to hold around 20 budgies for a friend whilst he does renovations to his aviary. With nearly 40 budgies now in the aviary and breeding room, they are making a lot of noise and i'm worried the neighbours are going to get angry with the noise. I use to have budgies before but cannot remember them being this noisy.I really do not know what to do!! they are nice and quiet when its dark but fairly noisy once its light. Also throw in the wild birds around my place making noise too..Do i just leave it and hope the neighbours get use to the noise and im being paranoid or do i approach the neighbours and ask if its too much noise. The neighbours know i was building an aviary. Is suppose once the 20 budgies leave it will leave me withg my 18 budgies would the noise still be as bad?

Kaz, Are your neighbours close by, or are you on a large parcel of land?

I live on a suburban block about 700 squares. The neighbours dont seem to mind the birds at all( we have asked them ) and as there is a lot of large trees in our area with wild bird populations the neighbourhood is used to bird noise.

You can ask your neighbours, but ask if they can hear your birds ( dont ask if they are noisy ) and do they mind bird sounds ? If you start out saying the word "noise" is makes them think in those terms. We are lucky. Our suburb is semi rural and we can have any number of birds. Only if neighbours get upset can it become a minor problem.

Kaz,

I might just leave it a few weeks and see if anyone approaches, I am use to the noise and you cannot hear much noise when your inside the house.

I am getting a little excited as I am expecting my first pair to hatch their eggs in the next couple of days.

Thanks

4 birds.... thats what budgies do. They are flock birds and thats how they all communicate with each other.

Wayno... we have over 30 in the aviary, and i can hear them when I walk the dog! (Laughing out loud) i've yet to have a neighbor complain though.

I agree I have 15 indoor birdies and my neighbours never complain about them.

Plus I have an African Grey who vocalises at 5am and he is LOUD hehe!

I have 2 girls and its like they compete with eachother, the TV ,the kids, the very vocal cat.and every time we talk or just to remind me that they want there fruits and veggies. buts its not a nice chirp its a cheeky chirp.

My birds wake up around 4-5am and nothing can stop them singing :D . My mum said (she doesn't like them) that the noise is not so bad, that they sound like the wild birds outside. The male tiels are worse sometimes - when they start singing their flirting song - over and over again for ages :) :(Laughing out loud):

  • 3 weeks later...

I was watching a bird training video and they were talking about noisy birds. A trick is to tie fish line ( to be invisible) around a wire on the cage or the cage stand and when they start yelling uncontrollably to just tug the line lightly. A few time like that and they think that every time they start to scream loudly that the cage is going to shake. So they stop. So I have been doing this for a few days now and it seems to be working. They still sing and chirp but the yelling has subsided. I CAN FINALLY HEAR MYSELF!!!

:D My four budgies sing very sweetly and quietly in the morning when dawn breaks, I shut my bedroom door and all is okay. On work days I am up @ 0515. Where I lived previously, I didn't have to shut the bedroom door at all as the sound was really muted. Now if the tiels decide to scream, :o but again, the shut door usually handles that. :greenb:
