Poor Akala

Featured Replies

Today Akala's lump burst, it was oozing blood for a while but it's since stopped and dried. When i was trying to clean her up i noticed that her lump has grown quite a lot in just a week and a half. :ausb: We're hoping to get to the vet either first thing in the morning, or on Tuesday morning. If it's just going to keep growing rapidly, and bursting, she may not be coming home. :( :budgiedance:

Thanks Aly, we were really hoping it would be a long time before we had to be thinking about putting her to sleep. :budgiedance: I get all teary thinking about having to make that call, it's something i've never done before.

Oh Bea I am so sorry to hear about her going down hill so fast you are a wonderful budgie mum and I know you will made the best decision for her. BIG hugs ;)

awwww.. the poor girl! I'm sure the vet will have recommendations about what to do with her. You'll know what is right too. Good luck!

The lump had more than doubled in size in just a week and a half. It was attached to the wing in such a way that to remove it would mean removing the whole wing. We got her put to sleep. :( RIP Akala. I feel absolutely terrible.

Oh, sweetie....I am so sorry  A hard decision for you to have to make I know, but a wise one for the situation you were placed in. Biggest hugs :angel1::P

I'm so sorry that she had to go so soon. *hugs* I hope that you can find some sort of comfort in knowing that you did the right thing and that she;s 100% perfect now, flying happy and free. She had such a good mom, what a lucky bird!

:P Sorry to hear about that Bea, it's kind of like Rosey, my Rosey Bourke whom I had put down in January, this horrible tumor kept growing, kept getting aspirated ( I could NOT believe the fluid they got) and kept coming back, mind you Rosey was a much older bird but I still miss her so much. :angel1:

Aww, Bea, you poor thing. I'm sorry to read about this, but at least Akala is not in pain anymore.

Oh Bea I am so sorry :(:P

You made the right decision and saved Akala from a life of pain and suffering. She had the best possible life with you.

 Akala, may you fly free beautiful little one :angel1:
