no the cage is too small, not wide enough for flight it would only be good for a travel cage

I’m not making a comment on the size of those cages, but what I would like to say about them, is which every cage you buy, take those stupid perches out, all the new cages seem to have that type of perch these days, I guess they do it so that the bird can be viewed better, but what the bird needs is at least two perches one on each side of the cage, far enough from the ends so that it doesn’t damage it’s tail, which will let it fly to & throw from one perch to the other to enable it to exercise. The better type cage is one that’s longer rather than higher, so that the bird has a maximum of distance between the two perches to enable it to open it’s wings properly to fly. I would suggest at least 18 inches to two feet wide.

They are all too small I would say. Ignore those silly ones with the weird shaped roof sections too. They are a waste of time. You need a cage at least 30 inches wide by 2 foot deep by at least 2 ft high or more, set up the way Norm has told you for perches and flying. How many budgies are you hoping to home in a new cage ?

I agree with Norm and Kas. I saw a lovely cage the other day but as always they make them tall not long, but I am thinking of buying it because it was areally good price, the wire is for small birds and it has a divider in the middle, so that makes it not so high. But my plan is to renovate it by lying down so the length is great and the height is not. The height is about the same as a breeding cage and the length would be at least 36inches or more but haven't measured the cage yet and it is in Barooga.

But there is the proplem of the wire running the wrong way but I have that worked out. I would have to take the bottom off and replace it with wire. I have been thinking of doing this for a while now.

If you are trying to stay within a certain budget then I would go on e-bay you get a bigger cage for your buck.

This store and many other stores are way overpriced on cages.

A lot of people look for "pretty" cages, ones which will look good with the decor or modern like those new plastic ones. When some adults in your lives ( not birdy adults ) get involved they often steer you towards "house looking" ones with shaped roofs etc or something that "won't take up too much space"...

and the end of the day, it HAS to be "right for the birds" and may not be aeither a decor item, nor as pretty as some ...BUT perfect for the needs of the birds :D

If i can talk my mom into it after a while after the first one is hand tame i will try to get anoter budgie.

I think all of them are too small.. Try lookin for one where your bird can fly from side to side.

The first link i posted would be great for 1 budgie, its nice & wide and with the perches placed properly lots of room!

The last cage you posted would be okay for one budgie, but bigger would be better. I've got the last one (that's house shaped). The first one you posted didn't have dimensions that i could see, but it's a silly design. The first of the second lot had too big bar spacing, the second was too small, but i think out of your options the third would be fine. It's approx. the size of my Blinkie's first cage. :D

 

Remember that 18"x18"x18" is the minimum for a single budgie with 1/2" bar spacing. The last cage is approx. that size.

i wouldnt recommend 6 and 7 with the roof. 5 looks okay.

:D I think it's great you are checking out cages!! My lovebirds and cockatiels are housed in very good sized cages but my budgie cages should be a bit larger but cannot due to space restraints as I have so many rescue budgies (consider the alternatives). However, they get a lot of out of cage time so that makes me feel a whole lot better and I wish pet stores would stop selling those weeny, teeny cages or the decorative, funky ones whose space is wasted. ;)

Any of those last three would be fine. Fancy shaped roofs are actually fun in my opinion. They allow you to hang toys at all different levels, and that last one would allow your bird to have different little areas. As long as the main part of the cage is a good size (which those last three are) then fancy roofs are 100% fine. :D I know someone who has the 6th cage, and she's very happy with it.

Yeah, that type of cage is just ridiculous. I can't see how it could be practical in any way, plus in my opinion it looks really tacky. :D

all those are good are for a fake plant and hang it from your patio...

You have got to be joking :P I think you know already from good advice on here exactly what cage you should have....pretty or not, its got to be practical and with space. Let us know when you find one :D
