Your not thinking of breeding those 2 together, are you Kaz.Not a good mix,for show birds.maybe okay for pets & we dont need to try & breed them. They come along without trying. It`s the good ones that are hard to breed :budgiedance:

Hi Macka, I do not only have show birds in my aviaries. I also keep some pet standard birds. Some for pleasure, some for breeding for pet owners, and some for foster parents to the show birds. I know these two arent show standards.

Also they are way too young. I have a lot of space in my aviaries, so I can still keep some I like. Besides, the main by product of breeding show birds is you get a lot of green budgie culls. People want pretty colours not green budgies, so for those that want my baby budgies, I have to keep some colour in the pet side of my aviaries.

Awww they are both so gorgeous Kaz.Love the girls colouring!!

Yeah looking good Kaz, Steel is looking well after the loss of his twin, I especially like his choice of mates, she looks nice as was her Daddy…Macka I think Kaz likes to let nature take it’s course with some of her none show birds & lets true love have it’s chance. Isn't that true Kaz?

I am trying to pair up the show types correctly following some good advice from seasoned showbreeders who are mentors to me. But Steel didnt come out as show standard, and Bih-Lin didnt either due to parentage. My pet types can "fall in love" to a degree and I may let them follow their heart if ages are right and it all works out. But my show types are definitely paired up properly, or I am wasting a breeding cabinet. :D

That's right Kas can't afford to be waisting breeding cabinets plus also the price of seed these days.

But steel is really a handsome little bird and his little partner is very pretty. :D

I don't breed for the intention of pets because of the price of seed, every bird I have here is for the intention of show breeding and showing, but of coarse the majority of my young do go as pets and we only keep the best.

Each year we are trying to improve by culling all the pet types in young and adult, It takes a long time but I can see a big improvement this year.

You know it sometime really hurts we you have to part with a favorite, like at the moment I have this little yellow face grey spangle, really pretty bird but he is small and has a yellow tinge to the wings, so it will go as pet, but everyday he lands on me and will llye on the flloor on his back and eat his millet spray he really is a little ratbag ;) . It is really going to hurt when he goes. :D

The pet market, must be better over your side of town Kaz,The best I can get is $8.00.Most going for $3 to $5.00.I was getting $11.00 from a pet shop a couple ayears ago.But that ended, when it chanced hands.

The ones I dont sell by private ads in the paper go to the only petshop I approve of, Macka. They also happen to be neighbours of mine. They pay my prices which are $15. And I also get to advise them for the birds wellbeing, and make sure my birds are treated well in their care. I have been offered $5 a bird from a stocksupply store and they acted like they were doing me a favour. I laughed and told them no.
