Do you mean a visual violet ?

yes i've only seen one before and that was long before i got into birds

Violets are not hard to find but the intensity of the blue that "looks" purple is what is more difficult to find. At least here in the US. My Merlin in my siggy is a violet but doesn't looks as purple as some of the violets that Kaz has bred.

I do have some good visual violets Timbo. The only problem we have in posting piks of them is blues and purples never seem to look as they do in real life and do not show up with the same intensity on here.

That is SO true Kaz. Merlin's blue is way more intense then the siggy picture. You do have that 1 baby that really came out looking purplish, maybe in one of your breeding journals?

I have a visual violet in my siggy. She is in the top right hand corner and is called Nikio. The picture isn't that good though, so it doesn't show her vibrant colour as well as real life, but you get the idea.

It's not too hard if you source a show breeder who specialises in violets, Timbo. The reason I say to source them from a show breeder is.....

there is trouble producing violets in decent size for show. So, anyone trying to produce violets of a show size would have their smaller ones available as a "cull" to be sold off. Find a budgie club and inquire after a violet breeder. You should get what you want that way

i can see how the photos on here arnt that intense with the violet purple looking like cobalts and mauve. Yasmin is a pretty bird and so is your yellowface violet. In October i'm going to a budgie show and will be joining up and will be looking for a breeder with purple birds.
