Is She A Mutation?

Featured Replies

Beep ( right )) is a blue, although I'm not certain. I have no idea what Tundra is, she has very light markings if any and has black eyes, not red. I have read alot on the site and have found variations that may match Tundra

I can’t see any iris ring, but they are both still quite young, I think. They are both hens & because I can’t see any iris ring, I think they are both Recessive pieds. Beep is a Cobalt Recessive Pied & Tundra maybe a Mauve Recessive Pied …is that yellow on her face or just stain, if she has yellow feathers on her face she would also be Yellow Faced.

I agree they are both hens

can you get a better shot of the back of the wings please on both birds

Beep's wings marking look interesting from the side, being that Beep has more blue on the upper part of the body...I may think a dominant BUT does she have any iris rings.

Tundra, looks like a recessive pied, a yellowface type 2 if that is not my monitor screwing up with me looks like she has yellow in the face and going into the chest. As for the blue she could be a dilute variety of either a violet or mauve.

Those are my thoughts for now. B)

Thanks Norm, its not naturally yellow feather around their beaks, its a carrot stain B)

They she isn't a yellowface.

I think she might be violet. Ans she is a recessive.

As for Beep I would think dominant pied due to the colour higher on the chest (as Elly stated)

Any other shots of them showing their back/wings?

That is what I was leaning toward with the unique marking on the side of the wings Sailor picture of the back would be wonderful.

Since that yellow is staining there is no yellow face in the mutation. I am leaning more toward violet as Nerwen said, possible dilute.

Thank you all, Thanks nerwen for changing to a link, I had a heck of a time with trying to change to a link!

I have been triing to get a picture of their backs but no luck. Beep has the pattern thru out the back as well Tundra has a few marking but they are very hard to see ( very light grey/violet) Beep also has an iris ring but Tundra does not.

Beeps iris ring confirms a dominant pied :hap:
