Thanks Guys :P

We are trying to work on the name now . . its really hard.

He seems to be developing more of a personality the more he settles.

Thanks again for all you help guys . . After much discussion with the wife, we are going to get the second wing clipped too. Just need to decide where we take him.

Cheers

Paul

most avian vets will do it for a small fee or you can call a different pet store and ask them if they sell birds and if they say yes ask if they clip for a small fee. :P

Thanks Elly,

Now that the little fellow is a part of the family, my wife decided we will go to the vet! Mind you when we purchased him from BirdCity, the held the bird and asked me to cut to feathers. I know exactly where to cut, but I don't want to risk hurting him :hap:

Still can't get over how awesome a pet they are!

If you were to go back to the petstore you got this little one from and ask that they do the other wing, explaining the reasons...it would educate them and maybe they would get it right in the future for other wing clips :hap:

I would, but they are a licenced breeder who have been in business for many years, so I have a feeling no matter what I've read on the Internet, they're not going to listen to a newbie. Also I'm sure they will be able to argue their point really well and explain how everyone on this forum don't know what they are talking about, bla bla bla.

My wife said we should just go there and say we want the other wing clipped too for stability. End of story. I might try, the worse case he can say we are talking ****, so long as the wing is clipped it doesn't matter what he thinks.

:)

By The Way: We are leaning towards the name Marty

I like Marty and what you say is that I have decided that I would like the other wing clipped it would be safer for him in our home. If they say something you say yes I understand and agree what you are saying can you clip the other wing as it is safer in our situation for our bird :).

Marty is a very cute name. Gives the impression of a very intelligent little budgie.

Hi Guys,

A quick update :)

His name is officially Marty, my son named him after Main Character in Back to the Future.

Second wing clipped and he is much more stable, I can't believe the poor bird was trying to fly with one wing clipped! Crazy hey?

Haven't seen him drink water, but he is eating well and seems to be more than comfortable on us.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Cheers

Paul

Wonderful news

Love the name

and don't worry about the water it is rare I see Merlin drink water

Thank you :)

Young Marty seems to have well and truly settled in well with the family. Not sure why, but he seems to really like my son. We leave the cage open at least once and day and when he flies out the first thing he does is to fly to my son's room. If he is there, Marty will stay with him. If not, he comes back to his cage and screens and carries on until I pick him up to put him back in.

I've also notice he will fly over to my son and land on him. Well that's the quick progress update on our new family member. Oh, almost forgot to mention, he is getting very loud too!

As to Bird City, they have a good range of products and birds. Also their birds were a lot cheaper than what Pet shops sell them for. Its well worth a look. The link for Bird City

Best Regards

Paul

glad he is doing well (Laughing out loud)

budgies are loud especially if they are males and they are flirting or calling

love to see updated picture of him when you have a chance

Oh oh oh bursting with excitement!!!! I can't WAIT to get to BirdCity this weekend!!!!

Thank you so much for the link!! :D :D :)

It sounds like Marty is starting to bond with your son, that is wonderful!! :)

Hi Guys,

Marty is doing well. I took some pictures of him with my son today.

With my son while he practices his keyboard.

On his favorite spot . . my son's shoulder.

He seems to be happy to spend hours with him. He hangs out with my wife and I, but if my son is anywhere in sight, he will make his way over to him. I can't believe how good a pet budgies are!

Best Regards

Paul

It's great that he loves your son since I recall it was a very friendly budgie that got you thinking of adding one to your family. You seemed to have hit the jackpot on a very outgoing and human friendly budgie. Some do take a while to warm to their owners.

He is so cute and it's great that he is so friendly :ausb:
