Posted July 6, 200718 yr Introducing our new little love *Tundra the Pudgie Budgie* . Beep ( the Blue) is so very happy to have a friend and after quarintine I introduced them and Beep took Tundra in with open wings, as did the rest of our family. Tundra is much bigger then Beep although it doesn't look like it in the picture. Tundra has a love for carrots and it is so cute because after he's done he is an orange bird! Tundra is about 4-5 months old as far as I can tell so there is not a sure ansure of what sex he is. and my husband says he must be *teething* with all the chewing he does. He likes to destroy! The best thing that could of happened to Beep did. Beep and Tundra are 2 peas in a pod!:budgiedance: http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z223/ja...er/IMG_0121.jpg
July 6, 200718 yr Both your birds look nice, I'm glad they got on well together, they are both females.
July 6, 200718 yr Author Thanks Norm. I thought maybe Tundra was a boy because of the blue nostrils but I'm not an expert in small budgies. I used to breed lovebirds, cockatiels, and cockatoos. The budgie thing is still pretty new for me. Are budgies usually chewers? Tundra puts holes in blankets, tears her Rope works off a temporary. perch (honey stick that they have eaten) so I left it in because she is always playing and chewing it. She shreds veggie, which I do expect but all the other mischief seems like alot for a little thing like that! :budgiedance:
July 6, 200718 yr They are both so cute :budgiedance: I'm glad they enjoying a friend. Yes it normal for Hen to have a LOVE of chewing, it's a natural behavior although the amount of chewing will changes from bird to bird.
July 6, 200718 yr they are wonderful like sisters :budgiedance: some hens will display light blue ceres when not in breeding condition and can confuse us I didn't know this until I joined the forum
July 7, 200718 yr Wow I love Beep's colouring it is gorgeous. I like her patterning. What kind of mutation is that? Is it a form of pied? Hens love to chew. My little brats have successfully destroyed a ladder and are starting on their spiral staircase perch now.
July 9, 200718 yr Author I have no idea what kind they are. Beep is very bright in colour. Beep never really chewed on everything until Tundra showed her how. Beep seems to be a totally different bird now, happier healthier and content. She eats veggies now because of Tundra, beep plays all the time now, before it was allot of boredom. they both are not too people social, They love the attention when you talk to them or give them treats and their veggies but don't want to be handled. I do still give them the opportunity to come out of their cage supervised but they don't seem to care much of an open door. :budgiedance:
July 10, 200718 yr You'll just have to make them come out. hehe. Tell them they need to get exercise, or they'll get fat!.
July 10, 200718 yr Author (Laughing out loud) me and the girls have had the coming out talk and Beep just squaks at me. I have a folding down door so I put treats on it to see if they might come out but they eat the treat and hop back in. Thank you for all your responses Edited July 10, 200718 yr by jackie
