Some More Pictures Of My Babies

Featured Replies

Posted

Here are some more piccies of my newest babies... Mum and Dad are Kailani and Lucien and they have adopted two of George and Fatty's bubs (the green ones.) I'm assuming the youngest two are Fatty and George's babies as they look a great deal like Fatty at the moment and I did put some of Fatty's eggs under Kailani.

I swear I'm not crushing it, the little one just decided to get into a very awkward position for the photo.

The second oldest bub is going to look like mummy and has her temperament, that is, very boisterous

The second youngest one - assumably Fatty's baby (green spangle opaline)

And finally the youngest one who likes to screech at me whenever I come near and runs after me when I put him on the floor... :(

Enjoy!

Are these the parents of your opaline spangle babies?

Your texas clearbodie is gorgeous I am having trouble seeing the spangle in him. Is he?

I was just wondering where you got the spangle from, thats all..

They are nerwen..

Can we have some shots of the back of your Clearbodie please?..

If you read in the top post some eggs where fostered over. Can we get a shot of those birds as well?

Yeah, me too... Neither of them are spangle opalines so I really have no idea where that bub came from... Im guessing a throw-back? Or maybe one or both of the parents are split for it???

Sure, Here's the back of Lucien

Sorry, its the best one ive got of her markings, shes spangle opaline anyway...

But George and Fatty have never bred a blue bub before, and the blue bub is the same colour as Kailani so I just assumed that it was hers and Lucien's...

You can't be split for Spangle. It's a dominant gene so either mum or dad must be one. Did you do close breeding? or colony breeding?

Can we get a picture of the foster parents as well? - oops the pictures hadn't loaded up yet.

okay now I see it all  Fatty is the spangle. You can note it down now that they are split for blue too.

Edited by Nerwen

Yes that make sense now so Fatty is the mum of your spangle babies..:D so the parents have to split for blue..

Also if Lucien is the dad to your lutino then he is split to ino and the bub is a girl..^_^

Thanks, so does that mean that the ino genes are sex-linked? or is it just a quirk in budgie genetics? (I know about basic genetics but am still learning when it comes to the colours and markings being dominant or recessive and the whole sex-linkage thing)

your right INO is a sex linked gene. Which hens can not be split for.

Lucien has one ino gene and one Clearbody gene.
