Posted June 21, 200718 yr Well just an update on the baby boy Billy. Im home sick with the flu and insanely sick of doing nothing! Anyway have had time to observe the boy. Hes now 12 weeks old and has certainly fitted in to his new home (even the dog doesnt bat an eyelid when he comes out for a cuddle) He is obsessed with paper, loves corn and green apple and loves to fall asleep on your leg with your hand as a cocoon over him. I think he is also saying a couple of things which are a it chirpy coz hes so little. We thought he said thankyou yesterday and he is copying me saying billyboy. My husband is besotted! Billy seems to be very interested in our mouths which I'm trying to change coz he wants to bite my lips! Oh yeah and he loves to lie on his back with his legs up in the air so you can scratch him and play rough. VERY ENTERTAINING. Oh i was wondering is baby corn okay for budgies? HE LOVES IT!! ps when can i expect him to moult? SHaryn :ausb:
June 21, 200718 yr :ausb: that all sounds great. He is a real clever little man. It is a good idea to keep them away from our mouths due to bacteria in them (as well as the biting) the corn is fine for them, as well as corn on the cob or even tinned corn. He might start moulting any moment now, it normally starts around the 3 month mark.
June 21, 200718 yr Author Thanks for that, yeah i had read that human saliva was ad for birds so need to change that behaviour, i think he is looking at how we talk coz he just sits there and stares at your lips while sitting on your chest. Im glad the corn is okay he looks forward to it. Ive got my dustbuser ready for the moult. Sharyn
June 21, 200718 yr Wow you sound like such a good budgie mum. Congratulations, you have done good work with him. :ausb:
June 21, 200718 yr wow , that is great that you are bonding really well with billy you are really a good mommy to him .
June 22, 200718 yr All sounds great My budgies love corn too. Try and avoid most tinned corn ( read the ingredients on the can ) ...as most tinned corn has added salt. Frozen is good once defrosted. Look forward to some pictures
June 22, 200718 yr Author Thanks all, I'm really chuffed with how hes bonded to the 2 of us. This morning he talked and whistled for nearly half an hour non stop. He said 'boy'and is wolf whistling. Its amazing how quickly they learn. I think he was a it younger than we first thought when we got him, I think the pet shop may have sold him a little bit early but it's meant he has fitted in even quicker. Its amazing coz I have a staffy who has a very prounounced hunting intsinct and several times billy has gone to fly onto the floor and she now knows to ignore him (we have been giving her treats to distract her) I would never trust her but I know if illy falls to the floor she wont race to eat him.
