Posted June 16, 200718 yr Sorry but I don't have before pictures and it is not yet finished. I need to make the doors cat proof and add a second safety door so it can be open for the day time. But the shelves have been moved to fit the cages I had, now if I put them close I would have room for 6 cages (3 on each shelf) As you can see the second shelf has a few bits and pieces on it for the time being. The other side has the nursery cage in place and and old cupboard which is now empty that I will use as storage space.
June 17, 200718 yr Author Thanks guys. Just so it's clear the shelves where already there I just had to get them moved to the right hight. and clean it out of all the junk. This shows (i hope) the placement of the shed that is to become the breeding area and the aviary. Edited June 17, 200718 yr by Nerwen
June 17, 200718 yr It's nice to be making improvements isnt it, Nerwen ? We are about to rebuild my aviaries also. I will end up with a new and much larger birdroom too and will have 3 flights. It all takes time though.
June 17, 200718 yr Hi Nerwen, so, it seems you will be getting into breeding exhibition birds after spending a bit of time around the hobby. The bird room is looking good. Feathers.
June 17, 200718 yr Author Thanks guys after thinking and talking about it for a while it's good to make a big step like this. Feathers Yes I am I was made a member of Pine River Budgie Club the other week. I felt it was the best way to learn more on other aspects in keeping these stunning birds. So far I have two pairs in mind for later. Poka - recessive pied green/blue and Elle - YF normal/recessive pied. and Thistle - violet spangle and Squeaker - YF normal/opaline/Clearbody
June 21, 200718 yr That's like me, I love collecting cages and I refuse to sell them or give them away. Each cage can be used for something I reckon. It is always good to have a spare cage on hand too.
June 22, 200718 yr Author One is from a friend that I use as hospital/ travel cage when needed. It is been left resting for a while after a BIG clean out after having a lost canary in it for a while. Two others I got about 1/2 a year ago from family that had teils in them. I have never used them as yet, one is very rusty and I've only kept it becuase it is the same shape as the travel cage and I can use the plastic base as a replacement if needed. Also the nest boxes can with the aviary and I have cleaned them. Thrown out some and left the others (in the shed) in cause I could re use them later.
June 23, 200718 yr Always take your time and do it right the first time. It does save money.. I am making a triple breeding cage for a buyer. The one I am building is better than mine. I have fixed the little problems I found with mine. Next set I build for myself will be delux. Let me know if you need help.

August 5, 200718 yr Author Well finally I have had the work on the doors finished :yellowhead: They close again and I have a screen set up for the day time. I have the cages almost set up to go. I do need to get a night light to work as yet but I do have an idea that might work that I will be heading out tomorrow to buy (if available still) and then all it will come down too is picking pairs (Laughing out loud). front- door shut for daytime front - door ajar (where I go in and out in the day) inside- I think the only solid pair I have in mind is Squeaker and Thistle. I was thinking of trying Poka with Tootie to give him a run at fatherhood with a known good hen, and he has been bugging her for about 4 months now but I was surprised this afternoon to see Kree flirting to her and chasing Pie away (who was only trying to stay close his dream girl)
August 5, 200718 yr Great work Nerwen. If you need help just let Dave or I know Edited August 5, 200718 yr by Daz Spelling
