How Much Sleep?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone... am just wondering how much sleep are budgies supposed to have? My new budgie, Lucky, a male, seems to have really active days and then really quiet days, where he sleeps a lot during the day. He's having a very quiet day today. I put his cover on about 7.30 each night and take it off again when I hear him chirping at 7.30 in the morning. Is he not getting enough sleep?

Thanks!

The lights are on in my flights & breeding room till 22.30 & the radio goes 24/7.They think its spring & summer all the time.

We have a completely indoor breeding room, we have timers that turn the light son at 6:30am and off at 7:30pm... we also have a night light that automatically turns on when the main light goes off, this is just so the hens can find their way back to the box. We had a severe storm the other day, we were evacuated and the power went out, unfortunately while we were gone one of our hens laid on the floor of her cage and the egg was damaged... :P

same time every night or Merlin starts going nuts

7:30 and I uncover him in the morning just around the same time :)

I guess it depends on your lifestyle. I work a full day so my birdies are uncovered at 5am so they can have an hour and a half out time before I go to work.

The budgies and tiels are covered up by 7.30/8.00pm and Monty (CAG) half an hour later because he needs his Mummy cuddles.
