I have kept a bucket of water in there ever since I suspected this could be a problem. I refresh the water every couple of days with hot water so that it steams.

Contact Irene. She mentioned globes for your flexi torch at the meeting the other night

That would be because I told her I needed a new globe. The place she suggested I can't get to. I was going to try atkins carlisle. As with anything I have to do, it all comes down to places I can get to and when I can get there. ;)

Give them a call, even take a picture of it and email it with any info on the globe. Most places are happy to post out if you're sure you will get the correct one. I get all sorts of things posted to me- living where I do!! Makes it easier for you and it'll probably arrive before you get around to going to the shop!!

Ahh, I have done online searches, but hadn't thought of going the other way and sending the store a picture of the globe. It is so small there is no information on it, unfortunately. I came across a new electronics store this afternoon and they didn't have it :) I am like you, I get a LOT of things online. It is the easiest way to get things home :D

Hi all, Check and weigh day again, so there will be new pics of some of the chicks in the breeding journals.

After Kazbee died Beaker has been left alone with their 2 remaining eggs. Unfortunately, even though I don't have a globe for my flexi torch yet, I am pretty sure that they are both clear. :)

I still have about 13 budgies in the last stages of quarantine. I have moved their cages around in the bird room today so that there is a lot more room to move about , which Kaz will be happy to hear. I have had to move cages around for a while in an effort to access all the cages in the room. This new change means I won't have to do that any more. This is the new position of one of the quarantine cages.

This is Dekota and Oh-oh's chick being weighed. At 10 days old it weighs nearly 5 grams.

Glad to hear I wont get caught up on the cages in there any more, Buddy :D

PS where did you get those great scales ? I'd like some of those ?

I just bought a microscope for testing my birds droppings also :)

By the way , I will try and find you a globe for your flexitorch.

I knew you would like it beter that way :) It was such a pain in the butt to have to move the middle cage all the time to get to either side of it.

Where I get just about everything else, online. I just had a look and they still have some. I love it, it makes checking their weight so easy. Being able to reset it to zero after putting a box or container on it means that the weight of the bird shows up correctly. Here is the link.

I was being a bit lazy today and only made enough soft food for the birds with chicks or eggs. I couldn't be bothered finding or washing enough dishes for all of them. They weren't going to let me get away with it. The budgies who were in the other half of a double breeder cage were just about trying to break in to get some, so I made some up for them. Next thing I noticed was the birds who still didn't have any were pacing back and forth and clinging on to the front of their cages as if to say "Where's mine?". So I made them some too. Lesson learnt - make enough soft food for everyone the first time! :D

Nice cages Aly, & like Kaz’s said nice scales…it’s good how you guys weight your chicks & spend so much time at these things, If I started weighing mine I wouldn’t have enough time to feed myself let alone the birds…Yes birds are pretty knowing & wont let you get away with a quite day will they. My Cockatiels are worse than the Budgies, if their food is getting low, as soon as they see me walk out of the house their on the wire yelling out to me…don’t forget us!!!
